If it is still loose, take a toothpick, shave it lengthwise so it is very, very thin, and repeat the water thing and put the toothpick alongside the post threads when inserting.

Cheap insurance, you just need a little more torque to remove them, and it's not like removing the pins is a common issue.

Thanks guys. Haven't gotten around to trying any of these yet, as it's not unscrewing enough currently to really bother me. Not sure if the water thing would work, as I've already put the silicone stuff in there, which is water repellent.

Just got this '89 4003S. I have to say it's probably the best sounding and playing Ric I've had yet. I've been through quite a few, but this just sounds right in my hands. Very loud acoustically as well, and that's very important to me and my tone. Cool looking electronics that I assume are still original for this mono-out tone monster.

It's more than just the cost, it is also the time consuming process to install CB. Right now RIC is way beyond capacity so CB is used only on a few top models, such as the 660, 660/12, and the 381V69, 381/12V69. A few years ago there was a special run of basses with CB for the Japanese market, IIRC, to honor a long standing dealer relationship with Rickenbacker.

Hm, I should do a YT video of it. It's become my main bass lately, replacing my 2008 4003FL.

The extra middle pickup is in the same spot on the scale as the E/A coil of a P Bass so it kind of brings that to the table. I run it about 85% on the volume with the bridge pickup full-on most of the time, it retains the original Ric punch but seems to fill in some low-mid gaps as well.

i am a precision lover but on the other hand i want to member of tis group,i never tried any rick but tonight i am gonna play my friend's rick 4003,she will stay with me for 3 days then i am gonna decide will i buy it..i am so exciting :)
