The Rickenbacker Club Part Five

I would swap out the gold for black. Swap out the pickups for Seymour Duncan NYC pickups. I would add a toggle for single, series, parallel function. I would rewire it volume, volume tone, or toggle and 2 stacked pots, or a 4 band Audere preamp.

I like the mapleglo better than mine with the trans green.

Merry Ric'mas.

Quick question - although too late for me because I already took it off, but is there a reason people leave the USA sticker on the pickguards of our Rics? Do people think it looks better or is it for preservation or ... ?

Happy Christmas, all!

I've only had this about a week so it's still brand-spanky new. I was wondering about that myself though. Seen so many pics where it is still there so I didn't pull mine yet. I did pull the sticker off that explains the push/pull vintage tone switch though. Wish they'd make that one easier to remove. Left a bunch of adhesive behind. Maybe the USA sticker is the same.

Then again I am pretty proud that this instrument is made in the USA even though I'm in Canada.

I actually like the look of it, so i left it on. Did remove the vintage push/pull sticker though.

At one time, I thought about leaving it on in the event I sold it to a hard core collector. Well, the ones that collectors buy don't have stickers, so I removed it. It has no value other than getting attention on a store display. There is still the 'Made in USA' on the Truss Rod Cover.

For those trying to remove gummy residue from the Push/Pull Vintage Tone sticker, try some Opps or Goof Off. Perhaps turpentine in a pinch. Put it on the paper towel only, don't want that stuff seeping down below.

I just had to drop in and say how much I'm loving my new 4003 MapleGlo. It sounds so awesome through my rig! Our band finally got together and rehearsed again this weekend and it was absolutely awesome sounding. Feels great in my hands and also very comfortable to wear. Not sure why some people say Rics are uncomfortable. But we're all different shapes and sizes so I can see how what works great for me may not work for everyone.

But loving the tones that I can get from this thing!

I'm going to leave the Pup cover on this too. My Jetglo had it removed when I bought it (used) and I installed one of the bezels to fill the hole. But I'm finding on the MapleGlo that it's just a great place to rest my thumb while playing.

I just wanted to show off the beautiful headstock wings of my brand new Sep. 2011 MapleGlo.

The neck is two-piece and definitely thicker.

Since I started playing, I've wanted a MapleGlo Ric. This is now my favorite bass.

Beautiful! That's 3 of us with Sept. 11 MG's. Myself and A-step-towards" also have MG's built in Sept.

I just saw his and your posts. My serial number is also 11-39xxx.

When I first got the bass I, too, was mesmerized by how gorgeous the headstock and fretboard woods are. I'm wondering if Ric used other than walnut for the headstock on some of their 4003's.

Maybe a Ric expert out there can verify this?

It is hard to tell from that angled photo, is your fingerboard the new Caribbean Rosewood. The headstock looks like it may be the retified maple RIC has been using lately, too. Very nice! :)

Thank you!

The headstock definitely does not look walnut to me. What's retified maple?

I couldn't get a good shot of my fretboard, but it looks almost exactly like A-Step-Towards':
