Here's the deal. Owned a Ric 20 years ago. Always loved them. Without going into all the boring details I have not needed to replace that Ric over the last decade of so. In the last 10 months I have completely upgraded all my equipment and basses. Bought a EBMM Sterling back in April and was loving it. On June 9 I walked into the local Ric dealer. There is a new 4003 hanging on the wall. First 1 I had seen there since last fall. This store usually only gets 1 or 2 Rics in per year. Massive explosion of GAS.

I know I have to buy this Ric but the trouble is on June 11 my wife and I were taking possession of our new house. I could not imagine walking in the front door of the house we were packing up with a brand new Ric without there being terrible, bloody consequences. So I plunked down $300.00. Told the sales guy my dilemma and said I would be back in 2 weeks after our move to pay for the Ric and pick it up.

Have been playing the Ric for almost 4 weeks now and it is even better than I imagined. Man I love Rics! My Sterling is now relegated to back up.

The pic doesn't do it justice but it's Midnight Blue.

If someone is passing out Ric Club Numbers......I will take one please.

Just picked up an Amber FireGlo. Sorry about the pictures. They don't do it justice. I can never take great pictures of my basses.
The fingerboard and body grain are the nicest of any Ric I've owned. The Amber/aged color binding was odd to me at first, but now I really like it. I also like the subtle improvements like the slightly slimmer neck, the hex key holes in the pickup poles, and the vintage tone switch.
