Saw the RUSH concert tongiht and I'm pleased to say the Rickenbacker makes an appearance!!! However, only for one song. It actually looked like a brand new jetglo 4003, and i don't belive it had the Badass conversion (correct me if |I'm wrong I didn;t get too close a look), unusual for Geddy.

Nothign makes that bass look sexier then Geddy Lee himself haha.

When I saw them in Calgary (MIND BLOWING!!!) he used it on two songs, passage to bangkok and another song, cant recall the name of it though (they had three encores) he played the Ric on the first two.

WHAT?!?!?! he used it on two songs, lucky you! I was goign to venture out to the Calgary show also but then decided Driving to Calgary from Vancouver then Seatte in 2 days, not fun. Althgouh it would have been a worthy cause.

Oh the first song they play in the encore is "One Little Victory"

SO I think I am in the market fo rmy second Rick... where would I find one in the Motezuma (howerer that's spelled)Brown or there's one keep seeing in someones display pic that looks like some sort or blackish sunburst is it true, or coudl it just be the light?

hi dear clubmembers, hehehe!!

Last weekend I was at slovenia, Metalcamp with my band (ELUVEITIE), opening for nothing else than MOTÖRHEAD !!!!!

I couldn't believe my eyes, as his Rickenbastards where allready on stage!!! so, I grabbed my cellphone, and took this pic for you guys...

I couldnt resist and touched the 2 basses, the strings where damn old and almost rusty, and Mr.Kilmister plays with an unbeliveable high action!

here are the beauties!!

WOW:eek:

I am not looking for a number seeing as I no longer own this bass (stupid me) :-P
Looking at these photos brings back some crazy memories. I owned a silver/black trim Ric for years that I foolishly traded away. Wasn't in the greatest shape anyway when I traded it but still. Here's a few funny photos that I found. I also created a mypace page of my old band so if you want to hear it how it used to sound check out Link RemovedI'm working on getting better recordings of the songs. They were however recorded at Long View Farm with the big ol' analog 2" reel to reels back in 87. Crap I'm rambling. Here you go.
Ignore the mullet! hahahaha!

Anyhow, so a while back I got a nice deal on a Rickenbacker 4003 (black-glo). I ordered the plate from pickguardian so I wouldn't stab my hand after removing the pickup cover on the bridge pickup. This inspired me to start on some mods to make this a truly custom instrument.
First off I am currently routing out all the wood from under the scratchplate and installing the guts of an old DOD Grunge pedal, this should give me some pretty serious output and in a sense active electronics.
Next step after this is to shave the "wave" shaped thing off the top of the peghead to give it a more modern and updated look. I'm also considering a bit of body contouring/reshaping, but I haven't decided on shape yet, maybe a rick/soundgear hybrid style of sorts.

Any suggestion would be truly appreciated!

That was very funny! I enjoyed reading that!

Anyway, here's a link that shows some pretty bad "actual" Ric mods.

Enjoy!

It was actually a joke. I shouldn't be posting when I am this tired, I dig my rick....as is.

I winced, then lol'd.

I love checking out various guitar distortions in general (not so much for bass), but in my first "band" (we never made it out of my garage) my friend/guitarist was very excited about his purchase of said Grunge pedal (back when they were made by DOD's sister company Digitech). So we get to practice, he plugs it in...whoa. Trash. Like I said I love all sorts of gnarly sounds, but this was just blurring and obscuring the instrument's signal to crap. To this day, I vote that the worst pedal ever.

In summation: good joke sir! :D

Here's my '96 Jetglo 4003. It's been modded with a set of Bartolini Ric replacements (incl. the mute add-on pickup), so it is completely hum-free...

How does that mute add on sound? Are there audio clips of your bass available anywhere?

Neat concept!

Can I join? :)

My Rics : '79 4001 that was stripped by prior owner, nicknamed "Watson" as it's been my constant sidekick since 1986 or so. Picture's not the greatest, but it really does sound much better than it looks! The blue one is an '80.

edit: Got rid of the pic of the '79, it was dark and abominable when shrunk. Will post a cleaner one when I can.
