Its not your eyes when McCartney was given his left handed model in 64 (it was number 1 or 2 I think) and the story I heard was that RIC didnt actually have a left handed neck ready, so they just put a standard right-handed neck style cut on his lefty body. Flash forward to the reissue they added the flipped head to the right handed models too (Jimi style). You usually dont see them in black though mostly the original Fireglo and the stripped natural.
I like them both but they are very different instruments the 4001 with the old style pickups has a very detailed but lower-gain output, I think its gonna record great!
The new 2007 has the Hi-gain system and the new vintage switch and I like it live. The vintage setting wont quite get the vibe of the 4001 but having the Hi-gain bridge makes up for it live. It reminds me of a hot wound 51 P-bass. Both have Daddario XL Chromes flatwound strings.
As for the whole adoption thing sorry man my pater familias status is taken up with two live in teenage daughters and a GF that is a professional belly dancer and she requires a large portion of my attention
The Memphis summers melt Canadians with alarming regularity, and its to cold for me up there besides I would miss the BBQ and Blues music and this
... I know I know It's a tough job but somebody's gotta do it!... I hear it all the time.
Beautiful basses! And beautiful ladies in the pic! Some people just have it ALL goin' on. I don't blame you for not wanting to leave any of that. Had to try the adoption thing but seen as how I am 43 I am probably a little old anyhow.
