Heres the whole bunch if it works
:hyper:

I just got this baby yesterday. My first Ric, and I'm in love.

I think this is from 1990. Are these called Bloodstars?

Are they worth more because of the color, or less because it could have come straight from a Poison video?

Anyway, it's a keeper. It sounds fatter than my Jazz basses, which was a big surprise. It was a bit neglected but I spent 30 minutes setting it up and now it plays like butta.

Nah they're worth a lot. They are pretty rare to find- especially a lefty too.

Some people call them Rednecks too.

4003 “Redneck” or “Bloodstar”
Limited Edition Series
This bass is similar to the 4003 model.
Features: Ruby red finished fingerboard, black hardware, black pickguard and truss rod cover, 9 black micro dot inlays, Ruby red finished unbound body
(1987?) - Introduced
(1987?) - Discontinued

That's why i said redneck hehe :P But you're right.

I love all of these cool LE ricks. the Tuxedo finish ones, that bloodstar or redneck. I was just wondering if they do a limited edition every year or is it kind of a random thing? I really want a rick but I'm not crazy about the finishes they offer right now, so i figure maybe if the next limited edtion is a good color I'll order one. Anyone know?

I would have preferred the blue 4003 but just finding a Ricky in a store around here is a miracle. Black was my second choice and that's what they had when I found one. I've been going to Sam Ash when I had soem spare time off and on for a month or two to see if they had one and never saw one on display. In fact the only reason I knew they had this one is the manager asked me if I was looking for any thing in particular. Then He told me he was keeping this one away from the noodlers. (My words not his)
BUt That red one is simply beatiful.

Hello fellow clubbers. I've got a proposition for all you Ric owners. I've got an '80 4001 in Jetglo that I'd like to trade for something else. I got it in trade, and I love it, but jetglow is just my least favorite Ric color. I'm looking to trade for, basically anything else. Ideally I'd like to get a newer 4003 in a COY, or even just mapleglo or fireglo. Let me know if you've got something you'd like to swap. Here's a sample of the beauty. Check my threads for more pictures.

You guys got any info on the Rick P-Bass Linus of Hollywood played in Paul Gilbert's Spaceship One?

I've seen other bass players of his use it. And if I'm not mistaken, I think I remember seeing it in a list of gear he owns. It looks like a 4001s modified with a p-bass pickup and a badass. Not what I'd do to a Ric, but I don't question anything Paul Gilbert does. He is a genius.
