at my guitarists house, thats me over there in the case lol. i have the jetglo third from left, the first is a 72 4001s that my friend's dad owns, the second is an old ibanez, which i never know their model numbers, and the last is a precision bass with a warmouth neck on it which i gave to a friend from another band to replace his junkie silvertone.

Well aesthetically you're on the money ... the Ric 4003S does not have the binding or fancy neck inlays. In addition, it doesn't have the Ric-O-Sound. It has only a mono input. It does sound a bit different from what I can tell (but I've only played a regular model once or twice). I would say there might be a bit more punch, and there's definitely less of the traditional treble that most Ric's have. It's the same difference between the 4001 and 4001S.
When these models were offered they were exactly $100 less than the regular model. You would think if they were making an "affordable" model then it would be significantly less. Why would no Ric-O-Sound aoutomatically mean no binding and inlays? I don't believe a mono input was ever offered on a bass with the fancier aesthetics. In reverse, there wasn't the option of the Ric-O-Sound on the plain model.

They will trade broken truss covers for brand new ones , or white for black
It's not really a "trade", as I think you have to pay. But you must give them the old cover back if you want a new one, because they don't want someone putting official ric truss covers on knockoff basses

Yeah, that black on black is sweet. Think I'll do that to my jetglo 4003 early in the new year. Been thinking about a Pickguardian p/u surround for my 4001, which has the cover off. Those are nice, too.

I am EMO, because ytou know what, it hurts a lot in this world, and being EMO is expressing that pain. I dont cut my wrists or anything, but I feel everyones pain and there is no love anymore. Glad to hear you like the record. To my ears, the Able Baker Fox record is like a middle ground between us and The Casket Lottery, so if you're a fan of Nathan's stuff as well as SBB, I'm guessing you'd like it.
Pickguardian is super easy to deal with. I'd recommend them to anybody.

I am talking to pickguardian already - great folks, I am thinking about installing a thumb rest on the pickup surround. I am too used to playing a jazz bass or something - I feel like my thumb is lost.
