Can you guys direct me to some good sites when it comes to setting up my 4003 Rics ('03 and '05), truss rod adjustments, all that? I know the Fender procedure, but I will have to educate myself on Rics now. Can't afford pro setups in the long run..

Here is my '93 Ric 4004 Cheyenne...Only use it for small acoustic/unplugged gigs.

I also have a 1983 4003 red metallic with Barts...just need to get a pic up.

Lon86, nice walnut grain on your Cheyenne! Mine is a little more generic looking. Great tone and playing though. Mine is an April 95.

Nice! Is that burgundyglo on the left? That's the classic Ric color. Shame they don't make it anymore!

Here's one of my two 1973 4001's. First as it looked in 1977, and how it looks now after years of mods. It's been repainted burgundy metalflake, and it had a Badass bridge and Gibson Mudbucker at the neck, and a Hi-A (Bart) at the bridge. Jumbo frets too.

I plan on restoring it pretty stock, and maybe painting it black.

Oh I played the heck out of that thing! This is the original pickguard, and after this one it had a pickguard I made that also covered where the bridge pickup is (like a 4002). I have all the original parts, with the exception of the bridge. I have the split tailpiece, but the actual bridge unit seems to have gotten lost somewhere. I have another tailpiece from my other '73 that is the newer kind. I might use that on this because the other bass is getting a Hipshot. It has a toaster neck pickup too. The bridge pickup is shot so I'm rewinding it.

It was a great sounding and playing bass with all the mods.

If this made your squeamish I wont show you the other bass! Let's suffice it to say I was making it into a fretless 4004! It has a new maple top and no pickguard.

It is indeed burgundyglo, I believe its a 1972 4001.

With no checkered binding, no MOP inlays but the shorter width white ones this has to be mid to late 1973. Look at the letters/numbers on the jackplate and put them into the RIC decoder (no spaces) to know the month and year.

I love white Rics! One of those might be next on my wish list. How old is it? Does not look like it has gone to that creamy color that some of the old white ones used to do. Pure white!

The thing is a beauty!!!

I was told it was the original 4004 built for NAMM, but I have no way of proving this.

I like to play it on acoustic and unplugged gigs...as it is very warm and "nutty" sounding...

Doesn't cut through in a heavy rock gig...but I don't believe it was made to.

Thought about selling it for a while, but it is hard to let go of something so beautiful!

Did you get that bass from Jeff? If so, we believe it to be the NAMM bass as the grain pattern is the same. It has NAMM in the control cavity if yours is that bass.

I've thought of selling my Cheyenne, but then I play it again and it stays.
