Hmm there has to be more than 10 people on TalkBass who have Bass VI type instruments.... How can we get them to come join our cult & gang?

"Bass VI" is not a searchable term on TalkBass, being that "bass" is too common and "VI" is too short... very frustrating... haha

I'm in, I've got one of the Fender Jag VI's. I've thought about putting in a third pickup in the middle position. We'll see.

As long as you use it as a bass tuned from E to E, you can be member # 011. Welcome!

My bandmate has a Bass VI, but recently got a Jaguar VI. He says it sounds bassier than his Bass VI. But he tunes it from A to A (I think) and uses it as a baritone guitar.

I've got a Gretsch Jet Baritone, tuned E-E, which has a scale length of just a hair under 30". And, the coolest thing about it- a Bigsby. Neat.

And on the way is a Dano Hodad Baritone, which I think came from the factory tuned B-B, but it's a 30" scale, so as soon as it's in my hands (and I can grab the $50 bass VI flats for it), it'll be E-E as well.

Both are black sparkle, which was an accident but is kinda cool. No camera, so all I have are the pics taken by their respective sellers.

I had a Danelectro baritone that I put bass VI strings on. From what I could find out the Dano bass VI and baritones were the same, it just depended on what strings you put on them. Strings for Fender Bass VI won't fit on Danos, the only strings I found that fit were for Jerry Jones basses (I think D'Addario). After I bought the Schecter Hellcat VI I put a Longhorn neck and bridge on the Dano and converted it to 4 string. The Schecter is much better.
Hey Showdown, why won't strings for the Fender VI fit on the Danos? And, where can I find the JJ strings online (there's no way anyone around here will carry them)?

I know this doesn’t follow the criteria but I was looking for an excuse to post a pic.
Made by Zolla in San Diego 30-inch scale wide neck with a RMC 13-pin to go to a V-Bass or Roland synth.
I wanted it to have a body that was a cross between a fender bass Vl and a Jaguar or Jazzmaster.
It’s tuned piccolo B to C.
But I have used it with standard six string bass tuning.
I do solo gigs with it now.

D'Addarrio makes two 6-string bass sets, one for Jerry Jones/Dano, and a slightly longer(to reach back to the vibrato tailpiece) set for the Fender/Gretsch.

Check first two sets.

On Fender Bass VI strings the thin part of the string that goes through the small tuners is too far past the tuners. You can get the JJ strings on [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
