After lurking on this thread, asking (too many?) questions, and pouring over SR specs with an OCD level of intensity I'm finally sold on the SR600.

I went into GC today and played various Fender basses (mostly Jazzes, and one Mustang), ignoring the SR600 hanging on the wall nearby; towards the end of my visit I finally picked up the SR600, plugged it into a GK combo, and played...WOW! This bass was incredible; GC has a reputation for having terrible setups on their floor instruments, but the action on this bass was perfect, and it felt great in my hands. I was blown away, and if I had cash on me I would've bought the bass (and the amp) right there. :hyper:

Long story short, I'm a Soundgear convert. I plan on ordering an SR600 from Sweetwater as soon as I get back to my home base (out of town right now). Then I will post pics and join this awesome club (it'd be rude not to, right? ;))

^ Here's my SR600 also purchased fron Sweetwater. Fantastic bass for the money.

Congrats on settling on the SR-600! Looking forward to pics when the time is right. And yes, IMO, SR basses seem to play extra nice with GK gear. :bassist:

The natural's really nice, but not my cup of tea. I prefer darker wood on basses, as well as flat finishes (which is why I prefer the SR600 to the SR700). My plan's to buy the lightest walnut one Sweetwater has, which right now is 7lbs 5oz.

Honestly, the thing could be puke green and I'd still buy it; the neck is that good.

I always thought I would end up a Fender fanboy, someof the vintage Precisions are such lookers. That said, I played a number of new Squiers and Mexi Fenders and none of them ever sounded exactly like I'd hoped.

The SR300, on the other hand, makes the sounds I want, plays like a dream, and is a looker. Yes, please!

I feel you. I've been a Fender fangirl forever (or at least for the seven years I've been playing). I always thought my next electric bass was going to be another Jazz (just sold my Standard awhile ago), but it wasn't meant to be. I'll definitely buy another Jazz at some point (sometimes you just need that sound), but for now the Ibby is perfect.

My interest in the Soundgears was driven by their thin and narrow necks. I find regular fours, even with a little wider or thicker neck like a Fender Precision are generally comfortable to play, but most fives are too much of a stretch since I have medical issues with my wrist/thumb. Although I'm pretty sure that is not a driving force for everyone, it may explain why perhaps a larger percentage of Soundgear players are interested in fives. :)

Oh and BTW, if you haven't already, I'd download those high-res pics from Sweetwater very shortly before or after you purchase it. They pull those pics off the website very quickly after someone buys the instrument. They always take such great high-resolution photos - would be a shame to miss out on downloading them for a keepsake! :cool:

That's a good idea! I planned on posting the Sweetwater pics here before I bought the bass, but I never thought of downloading them to keep...maybe I'll have a new desktop wallpaper. :D

Also, for anyone interested there's a near mint looking SR1400 with case for sale on eBay...looks like an okay deal, and I'd probably jump on it if I wasn't set on the SR600.

This is my current gig rig. Left to right, SR305 SR300 SR1206. Love the sound of each. Behringer BTR2000, Genz Benz Shuttle Max 12.0, Furman M-8Dx, Sansamp Tech 21 RBI. Also dabble in a Digitech BNX 3. Rock On!!!

ps: Love the style sweeper knob on the 305 and 300.
