So my SR20th4 has been modded and it was the best thing I could've done to it. There is a before and after pic -

Amazing !! The Barts sounded great, too, only they were SO noisy. The DC4's are quite an improvement. I DO suggest if you do the same to get the coil taps, too. It adds so much more to my sound.
I can have any configuaration I want like series on the front and parallel in the back, or vice versa, or single coil, etc. Silent, too. Quite an improvement.
The cavities had to be routed about a 1/16" and a tech installed the electronics. It took him a few hours and he's a pro. There is a lot of detail, so not a job for someone like me who can do basic repairs on passive stuff.

Honestly, no. They have a unique sound. SO articulate. The single coil is like a jazz on steroids. Really cuts. If I HAD to make an overall comparison I'd say Alembic clarity with a Geddy Lee jazz growl (so Fender pickups). To me, it's the ultimate old school tone meets modern bass tone. I also give a LOT of credit to the bass - The Ibanez Prestige has the perfect storm wood combo.

Hoping you guys can help me with this...
My 2006 SR300 DX B100 bridge is lifting off the body at the tail where the strings are anchored. There is enough space that I can slide a credit card up to the four screws. Now what bridge can I replace it with since Ibanez don't make the B100 no more? It need's to be chrome also.

Hy guys! I would like to present you my two sons. They´re brothers separated by 19 years!

The old guy is an 1994 SR 1300PM which now is Passive (no more Vari Mid on it), with Joe Barden pick ups! I also change the tuners for Gotoh GB707. DR Black Beauties are the strings.
And the newborn is an 2013 SR 5000e Prestige. All stock with Optima Gold Strings on it.

mb94952: Once I had an experience with a solid mahogany body with the SR 506, but I don´t think that is the same of playing your Prestige. So, I´m afraid I cannot compare the sandwich with the solid body in terms of sound, sustain etc... Maybe someone else would answer it with more property...

Hi Edumerino ! Thanks for the quick answer. Can you tell me if the wenge adds too much midrange honk, or if it adds some lion's growl.

On my Prestige that has the same neck as yours does, the wenge fret board adds a nice high end to counter the darkness of the all mohagony body.

My question to you is do you find the the added wenge on the top and bottom of the body adds too much mid range honk, or does it add some lion's growl, or is it just right ? I would have to belive that the Japanese with all their wisdowm made the SR5000e the top of the line for a reason and experimented with different woods first. What I want to know is if looks or tone won out ...

Yeah, I've thoughta out removing my d Metallica sticker and putting on something new, and Geezer is a favorite. Or I could put one on my black 6er... Decisions, decisions. :)

At Guitar Center there are a bunch of Ibanez SR300's used for $199.

In my (experienced) opinion, there is not a better deal out there. 24 frets, 3 band active EQ, five piece neck, Bartolini MK pickups, and more. They play like a dream and sound amazing, too.

Ibanez basses are simply amazing. I still love my Peavey Cirrus basses, but I have only been playing my Ibanez for the last few months. To me, another thing I absolutely love about the SDGR and Cirrus basses are the 12" radius neck. It seems to be the ideal shape.

SR300s have Ibanez pickups, it's the SR500 and up that have the Bartolini MKs. The SR600 is one of the best deals out there - though I agree on the SR300, great bass for the price as well.

And Edumerino, that's a handsome pair of sons you have there! I have serious gas for a Prestige, although that gold hardware is a bit much, would change it all to black! :) Great basses you have there, really like the older one, too.
