Fwiw I owned a euro Wimbish for a bit. It never replaced my SR and I flipped it after 2 or 3 months. Nice bass for sure but the SR had it beat in every, and I mean every, category IMO. Ibanez basses exude a certain reputation that they're good instruments but certainly not the best. It can lead to the feeling that "wow this SR is really nice I bet xxxxx brand would be incredible". Took me a bit of lost money before I realized it wasn't the case at all.

I'll not be selling off my USA Custom Coda 5XL Jazz bass anytime soon.I absolutely love love love Spector basses, but I can't find one that I like that I can afford. A white Wimbish Euro recently came up for sale near me but it was over $2000. No can do.

I'm currently playing a few basses but my main is an Ibanez SR600 (pics are a couple of pages back if you wanna see). Fantastic bass, not just for the money either. Love it.
They can be pricey for sure. I'm very very happy with my first Ibby...Great fit, finish is a bit thin, but as long as the quality is there, I'm good with it. 
Your natural SR600 is a real beaut! Ash body? Gorgeous fingerboard! I'm looking forward to trying a SR5005e sometime...that's a beautiful bass!
Every USA custom hand built Spector I've owned I've not been disappointed with. Are they worth the $$$$? Is it necessary to pay the big bucks to get a top grade bass? Maybe not...but it depends what a player is looking for. When 98% of pros are playing basses priced at below $1G. Just my 2cents.

It's all about preference for sure. I wasn't disappointed with the Spector at all. I liked it better than every other bass I've tried except for the SR1400 and 5000. It was a killer looking bass, I still have the occasional dream of a US Spector in the flat red with the 1400's tone.
Does anyone here have an Sr1600le? I have one coming in a few weeks but reviews were very hard to find.

On that note, can I get a number as well? I have two SRs and love them. My main Ibby is a vintage SR800 which is the best bass I have ever played.

The SR1400 & 5000 are real tasty looking basses. I'd love to try them out sometime. The US Spector you speak of, matte red, looks stunningly incredible. Used ones are a lot more affordable, less than half the price of new, still $1900-2300.00, but compared to new price $5,000.00+...Every one of the US basses I've bought I've been able to dicker with the dealer on the price. Never pay full price.

I'm still amazed how thin & narrow the neck is. Feels more like a 4 string Jazz neck. Is it your first fretless? My band mates couldn't get over how thin the whole bass is. Our drummer is a bass player also and he plays Ibby basses and he keep looking & looking with amazement. One of his basses is an Ibby AE, sounds beautiful. He played last night after rehearsal. All he plays in his acoustic duet bar band now. Said he hadn't touch his Ibby electric bass in a very long time.
So what are you using to clean your SRs?

Second, regarding cleaning: it depends on the finish. If it's a SR50X/60X, just a dry cloth. If it's 30X/37X/70X, any certified guitar polishing substance. For fretboards - lemon oil. Wash your hands before playing and don't use anything on the back of the neck (especially if it's jatoba/bubinga/wenge) because it will become gunky & sticky. Pretty straight forward minimal maintenance.

Hello! I would like to share the final modification to my SR506, updating my past post. I added the Aguilar OBP-3 preamp with the Elegee custom pickups.

Been waiting a long time to try these out - I bought them from a fellow TB'er & I've had them a while but not enough time to get into a rainy day project. Well, with a foot of snow outside, I found the time today. Installed these Aguilar DCB pickups in my SR-705, and I love 'em!
