Thanks for the info. I just picked up a new 1205 on Friday and was told there is no case or bag. I will ensure they order me in the proper case!

Weird thing was that I opened the factory case myself... no case. Do they ship seperately?

P.S. Killer basses for the $$$!!

Now about the gig bag: the Premiums normally come in a hard/soft case. Not a gig bag. It's like a rectangular case, but with textile material on the exterior instead of plastic of artificial leather. And it's big (almost like an ATA case).

I was hoping for a more accesible SR (there's something about the 300 that doesn't fully convince me - prolly due to the neck woods), with a bit of a fun & wow factor on the side (like a wacky colour scheme - after all they've just did with the guitars - or slanted pups, or whatever), but since that isn't happening...oh well.

But it's getting annoying to walk in the local store and see all those Ibby guitars with different colours and inlays and so on, while the basses look the same, year after year (I said this before: I'm freakin' tired of that brown tint of the 500 - why the heck can't it be black, or white, or just plain natural like the 600?!?).

That's weird, about opinion(s) that the instruments should have a free case, and that you opened the factory box to find 'no case'.

Keep us updated?

Nope, no case. Just a bass reinforced with cardboard and wrapped in white plastic.

Came with a manual and a cool Ibanez screwdriver/allen key tool though!

There would have been no room in the box for a case or gig bag. Manufacturer date was August 2011 if that makes a difference.

My contact is away until Tuesday, but I will advise after I speak to her.

The Luthier did his best to match the color of the Wenge to the neck but he said it was a bit difficult because the Wenge on the neck has a little reddish tint to it. Most Wenge out there is more of a Chocolate color. But it still turned out great with a good figure to it.

Cost was $46...Not to bad considering the figured pattern on the wood. Got if from this place:

Mike the Luthier there is a real nice guy and I have had him make a few things for me lately (Birdseye pickguard for my Mustang, Gancalo Alves backplate for my Warmoth and now this Wenge backplate for my SR1200e) and all of them turned out great. :hyper:

I just pulled the trigger on a new 1405 and I ordered a case for it too . I was looking at Lakland JO5s , Carvin SB5000s , Fender Deluxe fivers and the 1205 and 1405 Soundgears and decided on the 1405 because of the weight , I'm good with narrow or wide spacing , the pickups and looks . My wife really thought the 1405 looked better than all the other basses .

I just turned 60 a few months ago and figure a 34" scale with narrow spacing and light weight would be nice to have . I got a small inheritance and the wife OKed me to add a bass to my other two . Since I've never played a Soundgear 5 we went to the local GC and I tried a SR605 to get a feel for the neck profile and it felt great to me . I'm pretty excited , they look like great basses .

Quick Update guys: I've decided to return my SR1205e to M.F. While I am really impressed with the way it played and felt however. I took both it and my Fender Aerodyne to church last Sunday to play the service, and the Fender never left the case. It was errie how much "at home" the neck and fretboard actually felt to me, considering I feel most "at home" on my Fender P/J jazz neck.

The down side was the single coil noise if I tried to move the p/u balance off the center detent. Also, the active pre-amp was a bit to sensitve for my tastes. The bass sounded great with both pups balanced, but it left me with a bass with only one voice. I'm not willing to spend $1k; and then have to immeadiatly launch into rewiring it and possibly replace the pre-amp. If I were to do that, I might as well have a custom instrument built.

I'm still keen on the SR series 5 wire however, I'm planning on starting to searh my local CL ads, used music shops for a SR 5 wire that is looking a little sad and forlorn, the little orphan nobody wants.....somethign I can overhaul into what I want.
