I own a SRT905DX, as well as 2 SRs (505 & 605).
I don't know if the 805SRT is similar to the 905 (since the SRTs are not available in EU yet), but the one I've got has a thicker neck than a typical SR (like King Said). But that's not the only difference: the SR neck profile feels like a flat D, while the SRT more like a full C - so it might actually feel even thicker.
The 905DX sounds like a crossbreed between a SR and a Warwick - it's very growly. Compared to my Thumb BO, the SRT has a more processed tone (prolly due to the preamp), yet pretty aggressive; the Thumb sounds more natural and organic with a bit of extra clarity. They both cut really well in the mix.

Nothing much out of the ordinary this year..same main SDGR lines..upgrade of B2 series bridge..the B300...no SRT or SRA in the EU catologue..CAP pick ups and pre amp move down to the SR300 range ..the Promethian Bass amp has been rejigged to a smaller 300 watt model..SR25th seems to be a Premium with a 25 years badge on it
Dont forget that this is the EU catologue..so the USA and Austrailan online ones when they come out towards to the end of this month will have a different model line up

I own an SRT805. I believe the main difference between the SRT905and the SRT805 is in the body woods and finish. My 805 has a mahogany body with a flamed maple top and the neck is bubinga and maple. My 805 is very growly but I think I've heard the 905 is more so. Yes the neck profile is a bit chunkier than an SR, but it is still very comfortable. I love mine and have had it a little less than a year, it's my main bass and gets the bulk of the work when I play out. I know that MF no longer lists the 805 on the website but I don't know that it means that it has been discontinued, it is still on Ibanez's website. like someone else said, gotta wait till after NAMM in a couple of weeks.
From what's in that catalog, I'm not too excited. That 25th is nice, but it doesn't "wow" me like I was hoping. I guess I was hoping for something that would put the 5005s to shame. Oh well.
I'm also disappointed to see that they're killing off the 400s. They were actually really nice. Back when I had a 405 and 505 and I actually found myself playing the 405 more.
Maybe next year they'll put out something that really catches my eye.

Here's a sound file of the SR700 on bridge pickup. Nothing fancy, just a direct input into a looper.
I'm normally more of a low end groove kind of guy, but this bass lends itself so well to this sort of thing, I wanted to try going that direction. Very modern sounding, kinda jazzy. The 700 also is capable of getting really full deep lows when using the neck pickup.
P.S. You'll need something more than just computer speakers to hear this very well.

I'm sure they will have some extra models for US (that is the EU version); but for the rest of us...I can't stop feeling like we're left out and our options are getting cut one by one...
I was hoping for a more accesible SR (there's something about the 300 that doesn't fully convince me - prolly due to the neck woods), with a bit of a fun & wow factor on the side (like a wacky colour scheme - after all they've just did with the guitars - or slanted pups, or whatever), but since that isn't happening...oh well.
But it's getting annoying to walk in the local store and see all those Ibby guitars with different colours and inlays and so on, while the basses look the same, year after year (I said this before: I'm freakin' tired of that brown tint of the 500 - why the heck can't it be black, or white, or just plain natural like the 600?!?).
I really think the entire SR line needs a refresh. I get why they cut certain models/price points. But they at least need new finishes. Unless they drop something amazing at NAMM this month, any SRs I pick up this year are gonna be older models.
Yeah, that brown tint flakes off pretty easy also...They should use real Walnut for the bodies on the 500 models. It wouldn't be that heavy either due to the size and thickness of the SR body and Walnut has a great tone for a Bass
Did you all notice that the Premiums in this new catalog shown have the dark Ovangkol tops? I don't think I've ever seen one that has the lighter Ovangkol tops like the ones they show on the website.
At least they are being true in this catalog to what the premiums really look like. Hoping we get to see some different stuff here in the US
Exactly! And considering how many used Ibbys are available (even in my country they pop pretty often in the adds), and the very low resale rates, how exactly are they going to convince ppl to invest in a new instrument?
I was set on getting a SR1205E, but I'm having a hard time finding a good reason for it, since my current basses cover all my needs; instead I'm seriously thinking of hunting for a cheap used SR and invest the extra money in a micro amp & cab. We'll see...

Try a different bass through the same rig. If you get the same result, it's in the rig. If not, it's in the bass.
Do your tone knobs work? When you turn the treble up it should make everything clear.
How old are your strings?
Is the battery going out? (Probably not, that usually creates distortion, but it's worth checking).

It's a PJ settup, and I like a bit on an aggressive sound (love my Stingray). I was even thinking of having it routed so I could fit a Nordstrand Big Split or Fat Stack in the bridge position. Any opinion on using one with a reverse P?
Also, does anyone know what the string spacing on a SR800 is?

Well, I just recieved a SR1205e from one of the large on-line retailers. I try to shop local, but none of the brick & mortar retailers had it in stock. Got tired of shopping by phone to find one so I ordered a supposedly mint condition used one.
This is my first Ibanez. I generally consider myself a Fender guy. My first and main go-to bass is a Fender Aerodyne P-J modded with DiMarzios. Have been playing bass about 5 or 6 years now; (reformed twanger); and to me - Ibanez necks were always too narrow for my tastes. This is the first Ibanez that has ever really spoken to me.
So far I like it allot. The pre-amp is a bit more sensitive than I care for however. I'd like the gain cut / boost to be more gradual. Also, the frets seem "clicky". O.K. that's a bad choice of words. Basically I guess it just needs a setup.
I'm on the fence as to if I'm going to keep it or not. It was supposed to be in mint condition, but it has marks on the upper horn. For some of you players of mid level Ibanez basses: How is the case / gig bag that they supply when new? The retailer that this came from included a gig bag, but it really doesent fit the instrument. Seems to me to be one of the cheesey $20. gig bags. If you place the bass in it, there is at least 3" clearance between the body of the bass and the edges of the bag.
First of all, congrats! IMO the Premiums are better even than the older Prestige models - trully awesome basses.
Now about the gig bag: the Premiums normally come in a hard/soft case. Not a gig bag. It's like a rectangular case, but with textile material on the exterior instead of plastic of artificial leather. And it's big (almost like an ATA case).
The normal gig bags don't fit the SRs to perfection; however this does: Invalid Link Removed - but it's plastic and the latches are very flimsy.
