Depends on what you mean by "freak" :)

I prefer the cases over the gig bags because they offer better protection (I still use the soft bags for rehearsals and local gigs though). So all my Ibbys are kept in one of these: Invalid Link Removed I like 'em because of the very limited storage space required, and that's a big plus when you have a restless kid running around the house, hehe :) The only weak point = the hinges (not as high-quality as the add states).

All of my SR's came with an Ibanez/SKB hardshell case fitted for the SR body. Been years since I bought a new SR - is the case not standard fare anymore?

Very nice actually.

In looking at SR500s I've found that they ridiculously vary in color from a nice dark coffee (or chocolate) brown to a bright, almost orange color. I've actually never seen a guitar finish vary so wildly.

By the way, if you're like me (and THE REST OF US HERE!!!) and like to look at bass porn, Sweetwater.com has such awesome picks on their Guitar Gallery section and while you obviously can't play the basses they have in stock, you can LOOK at the them and select the one you want - which definitely helps with the SR500! I'll be getting the SR600 in natural soon because I've never liked the way Walnut looks but they actually have one on their site that is gorgeous.

VinKreepo - I'd recommend barts for your SR. I read the post you linked. If it's a K5 it probably has ADX pups, which I've found to be a little brighter and more aggressive. So barts would be a good starting point, probably do the electronics too. If you really want, you can order the actual BTB electronics from Ibanez. Keep in mind, this won't make it sound identical to a BTB as you still have the differences in body and mass. but it'll sound much closer to it. You could also try experimenting with the mid sweeps. If I recall, the K5 has a Vari-mid EQ which is very versatile, even with the ADX pups.

I do have this Abalone inlay almost 1 inch tall and want to get it installed in the headstock but I am having a heck of a time finding someone around my area that can do simple inlay work. The wood is already raw now after sanding off the finish. It is basically prepped and ready for the inlay...I'll keep trying to find someone :D
