I find that teh extened scale length of the low B on my mutli-scale 5-er I built has a tone like nothing else I own, even my 6 string. So I've become a firm believer in "the multi-scale thing". Glad your Ibanezx is killin' it, it looks amazing too!

Thanks man! I didn't really know what to make of the whole multi scale thing until I finally owned one. Now I see what the deal is, it's certainly not hype. IMO, this is the best sounding Soungear I've owned to date. Yes, I dig the Bartolini BH2 pickups but the star of the show is the multi scale aspect, hands down.

I basically tried to clone a Dingwall 5, so I mimicked their scale length for 5-ers. The G string is a standard 34" and the low B is 37". she's for sure the longest bass I own, but I think it came out pretty good.
I went with the Darkglass ToneCapsule and ran it 18 volt just because I didn't have an 18 volt bass. A lot of what I built was because I didn't already own one. Here's the wood pile I started with -

First Build - "Lucifer"
my band released new album,
it's not easy for engineer to mix my sr 1400 (especially when drive is on) with my guitarist that using accoustic guitar,....but at least it is do-able,.....even though i think P bass will fit better,..but ibanez add "unique"ness

Got my SR 655 today from GC. This is the older one with PJ style pickups.
Opened it up and plugged it in sounded great! Flipped the passive/active switch to active and nothing but quiet distorted tone.
Ran to the store and bought a couple new 9 volts, put one in and same quiet sound. Tested that battery on a meter and it read full power.
Bought it from a GC in Pennsylvania because that was the only one they had showing for sale.
NOW I see one came into the Saint Louis store which is close to me but it's $50 more.
I know I can send it back before 45 days but I really don't want to. The one I have looks like it's hardly been played and sounds great in passive mode but I feel like I didn't get what I paid for...
Thinking about taking it to the Saint Louis store (even though I didn't buy it there) and seeing what they can do for me.

I have the SR755NTF version so basically the same but "better" woods (but a bit heavier too) and I haven't had a battery in mine for years now. I sort-of liked the preamp and I liked how the bass sounded the same in active and passive modes but I figured I really have all the adjustment I need in passive. Mostly I set my amp flat and just use the passive tone and blend controls and it gets a good range of tones from P to J and beyond. If I need it then I have the tone controls in my amp too.
I have a big split in the bridge position which is worthwhile for the right price.

I think you've got a great passive bass there. I love the reverse P pickup and the Nordstrand pickups with the soapbar size make for a great PJ sound in my opinion. The other thing; a lot of people talk about PJ basses having unbalanced P and J pickup outputs and they definitely don't have that problem. Plus the active/passive switch becomes an on/off switch which I actually love - its very convenient on stage.
Before I bought my 755 I tried one of those and loved it except... I know some people love the "antique brown stain" finish but it really turned me off. That finish that you have I would have been all over! Sound wise I couldn't detect any difference between the two so for me it all came down to looks.

I have the SR 750 with the PJ configuration and I love this bass. If you can get it working, it'll be worth it. Check the wires at the battery connection to see if something is loose. And, the store may be able to help as you mentioned.
And as if by magic, I put the new battery in again today and everything is working as it should.
Took me about 30 seconds to realize I like the passive sound better anyway
