Damn dude that is a pretty bassI received my SR5FMDX2 on Friday and I have had a couple of days to play it for quite a few hours now. I am thoroughly impressed with the quality, sound and the action is nice and low. Being that this is my first 5 string I am also impressed with the thin neck shape. It is very comfy to play. It was indeed 8 lbs 10 oz when it arrived and I swapped out the Gotoh tuners that were on it for some Gotoh Res-O-Lites and it is 8 lbs 3 oz now. Noticeable difference in weight. Very happy that I finally picked one of these up.

New member, first post! I just bought this used SR800 off Guitar Center's website. I had played a different one, an SR600, at my local GC and really liked it (though it was priced really high for some reason, about the cost of an equivalent one new). This one should be here in a few days and I'm really excited to check it out.

While looking for a bass, I came across the SRMS by pure chance. The DTW was being sold second-hand in a local music store and I was initially attracted by its appearance. I liked how easy it was to play; neither the multiscale concept nor the fact that it was a six-string posed a problem. In terms of sound, I liked the great variability and the warmth of the BH 2 pickup. At the first band rehearsal, I was fascinated by how well the bass sat in the band mix. As a result, I sold my Sadowsky modern to buy a second SRMS in the BTT version. I am overjoyed and after several years and basses, I finally feel like I have reached my goal.
The BTT is really very photogenic; the beauty of the poplar burl of the DTW is a little difficult to see in the photo, but just as fascinatingLove the BTT!
Well, the SR800 has landed and is everything I hoped it would be - and more. Plays and sounds fantastic, super comfortable and smooth. Also looks stunning in person. Reminds me of Earth from space, or something shot with the Hubble telescope. I'm really happy with it, especially for four Benjamins.
I also happened upon what I think was an error on GC's website: A like-new Ampeg RB115 listed as a BA115 for 245 bucks. I quickly threw it in my cart and completed the order, so we'll see...
If it works out, I just pulled together a pretty sweet bass rig for around a grand. Stay tuned!

I keep going back and forth on whether to sell my MIJ SR1306 or not. I've owned 400+ instruments and this is one of a handful I'd consider special. It has the most stable neck by far I ever had, on a bass (Equal to my modulus's ) and the thinnest 6 string neck I ever played on any bass. I had it stolen, and recovered so I also have history with it, but I also just can't do 6 strings anymore and will continue not being used. I been asking $1000 cash local or $1200 shipped as that's the bare minimum to make it worth it to me, to sell it but am I asking too much since I'm not getting any bites?

I think one of the main issues with soundgear basses and Ibanez in general is there's so many model numbers that to us MIJ SR1306 means something, but to the those not familiar with Ibanez that means nothing to them. And unfortunately most folks experience with Ibanez was playing a Gio or some other $300 dollar option, at which point they just assume Ibanez is not a quality manufacturer of high end instruments. From a buyers perspective it's nice because we can find some pretty nice soundgears for low prices cuz folks don't know what they have. But from a seller perspective it can be tough because folks don't realize how good the bass actually is and don't want to spend that much. Tbh I'd probably be making you an offer if I hadn't just bought a Wal bass last month which basically zapped all my funds.

I have a mid-tier 755 with the infamous MK1 pickups and matching preamp....and $140 burning a hole in my pocket. Normally, I'd go with an Audere Classic module and be done with it BUT I ran across an OBP-3 (same $$) which matches the 5 knob layout.
Has anybody used this pairing or am I chasing my own tail?

An Aguilar OBP-3 is the best preamp you could possibly choose. It will put your bass in a completely different class of instruments.
I have the Aguilar in my SR 1200 VNF. And it transformed the bass from being one of the best players to also one of the best sounding instruments I have. Outstanding
Should be here in a few days. It does have an A/P switch so an extra mounting hole is in order. My 1405 has the Nordstrands and an older Audere Pro Z.

I find pre-amps to be almost as polarizing as FSOs. Personally I like a more metal tone, so the Darkglass ToneCapsule is my fav. But I'd guess a Country player probably isn't looking for that, you know?
The Darkglass Tone Capsule is super clean. I don't think you would have any problems using it in Country or Gospel
I set the bar a bit lower….I buy used stuff with a compatible control layout and make it work irrespective of make / model. Up til now, it's always been Audere.

I want to get more out of my SR760. It's an active HH, and according to the Ibanez wiki the controls are volume and bass/mid/treble. Apparently no balance control!
I put Hi-beams on it a while back, and I just don't like the metallic twang any more - I've become more of a 'thud' person. Has anyone experience of such a beast with, say, pure nickel or flatwound strings on it, and if so did it do what I want to do? Or is it really voiced for metallic twang and nothing else?
