I do have one niggle: the fret markers are hard to see because they are not white and the strings are too close together and they cover them. The side dots are pretty useless too.

Aside from the comment you made also about playing properly, I like clear and easy to see side markers too.

I pilfered my daughter's fingernail polish for colors with glitter for this. Silver glitter works well on the Squier Musicmaster that has a rosewood board, and red glitter works on my 2 parts basses that have Bronco necks with maple boards. By using the different colors they double as being easy to see under normal lighting and the glitter "pops" under stage lighting in the dark.

No drilling or alterations needed, if you want to remove them it will scrape off with a guitar pick.

Just my experience and a suggestion.

But if you get it at a wally-mart they won't raise an eyebrow considering all the other "oddities" they see.

I use slightly larger sized fluorescent 'pasties' for both side dots and fret markers to increase their visibility on all my basses, regardless of their scale size...

Don't really know why, but 'Wally World' in my neighborhood has about the nicest, most helpful employees of all the stores in the area. They seem to mostly employ real people who are not adverse to talking with you...

That's true here, pretty rural area so I probably know 1/2 of the employees and since my wife works for the school system she knows most of the youngsters there. They'd believe I'm buying it for my bass.

Righteo, been slowly trawling through all 170 pages of this thread since around November, after I saw a Mini P listed at one of my locals and became obsessed with the idea of rocking up to gigs with a toy-sized bass that actually sounded and looked good.

So glad I took the time to read through the thread because once I got my hands on one of these wee things, the info exchanged between you lot proved to be a goldmine!

I think I'm just about there with my Mini now, and really really happy with it. The refinish was of course the biggest expense, and absolutely an indulgence, but hey it looks killer (IMO at least...) so I don't really care. David Wilson up in NE of England did a stellar job on the body/neck there.

There's a few things that could still be changed – I think some shielding work could be done as it's a bit noisy when I'm not touching the strings.

I'd also ideally whack some flats on there, but just need to do some thinking about which set would be best for me. I'm holding out for another run of those LaBella custom flats that you guys somehow managed to collectively force into production, but that may be wishful thinking haha!

Would love some more details. I assume that's the Hipshot Badass bridge, yes? Did you use Hipshot tuners, too? What about the pickups? Any other hidden mods?

Sure thing, so:

. Bridge: exactly right, Hipshot Kickass. Pretty much screwed straight in.
. Tuners: also Hipshot, Ultralite mini-clovers. Again a drop-in.
. Pickups are DiMarzio Model P pickups, only got those put in today, sounding great.
. Pickguard is from earlpilanz on eBay.

That's pretty much it really! Not tonnes done to it compared to other people's mods tbh, and the ones I've done I mostly got the ideas for from the good people of this forum!

Oh actually, the only other thing was I replaced the strap buttons with some bigger Dunlop ones. Those stock ones needed to go as soon as possible haha!

That one looks to be 3 layer WBW (White-Black-White).
Adds a nice touch.

He's also the go-to guy for Bronco bass and Mini-Strat guards.

Yeah the original was indeed white, but that anaemic single-ply just wasn't doing it for me, so I got a slightly more faded vintage White 3-ply one. Splitting hairs at that point I know, it certainly wasn't essential

I've been looking to buy a pickguard for my Mini because the white one doesn't look that great, it's pretty cheap plastic. At least my toilet seat cover has aged haha. This thing is so white.

My Mini is red so I'll have to go with tort or black.

I'd love to change the tuners but those Hipshots are so expensive. More than the bass for sure.

Love the shell pink though most shell pinks are always too anemic for me. I wish my Bronco was more saturated.

Love the Shell Pink!!! I see that you pretty much went the same route I did with mine. Except, I went with "20-1" Grover minis instead of those expensive (and wonderful) HipShot tuners. Instead of DiMarzio, I went with a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder, rolled the board and dressed the frets, copper shielded the pickguard, added Rotosound 77 Short Scale Flat Wounds, added the BadAss bridge, and a custom harness with Bourns pots, Cloth wrapped wire, an orange drop, and a Switchcraft jack. Finished it off with Schaller Strap Locks. Finally, I just saw there's a new source on EBay that offers pickguards for this model in dozens of color combinations! (I'm thinking tortoise shell may be my next addition ).
