I've been looking to buy a pickguard for my Mini because the white one doesn't look that great, it's pretty cheap plastic. At least my toilet seat cover has aged haha. This thing is so white.

My Mini is red so I'll have to go with tort or black.

I'd love to change the tuners but those Hipshots are so expensive. More than the bass for sure.

Love the shell pink though most shell pinks are always too anemic for me. I wish my Bronco was more saturated.

By chance, has anyone else purchased a pickguard for their Mini from the seller in the link who can comment on whether what they received was a quality, drop-in replacement with factory fit and no mods/adjustment required?

Lots of us have them. I got one and it's a perfect fit, and top quality.

Yup, bought one in pearloid, fits perfectly.

EDIT:

Not that I “need” them, but what timers are a drop in fit for the mini? Preferably with a cloverleaf key, no Y keys please.

Thank you, I'm aware of that vendor. I bought a pickguard for my Bronco from them. Perfect fit. Just need to cough up the bread to buy one for the Mini. If it kills on tomorrow's gig it gets the pickguard!

I bought a black 3 ply from him and it is very nice. No issues.

Thanks. That's encouraging, and the reference to the size is good to have. As long as I don't have to ream or redrill the holes, it'll be good.

I've also thought about just using Gotoh tuners but replacing the paddles with the stock ones from the bass, assuming they would even be interchangeable. They're held on by a screw, so the worst case scenario is a buy some new tuners, try the swap, and if it doesn't work just put it all back together and resell the tuners.

I doubt the paddles (or keys as Hipshot calls them) would be interchangeable between different brands. I know that the USA version of the Hipshot Ultralite keys can be swapped out, for different keys, and also for different sides of the headstock, but it's one long shaft that runs the length of the tuner. I assume the Squier and Gotoh keys are similarly constructed, but to they own specs. And whether they can be easily disassembled at all is another question altogether. If you look around, you might find a good deal on thr Hipshots. I've seen them selling for $25ish each, but don't remember where. Just go through every result on Google.

Sorry for always asking the same question of everybody, but how did the R77s fit? Did you need to wind the main windings round the tuner pegs? Did they go in the nut OK? And how much did you need to tweak the truss rod?

I have the same flats on mine and they are great! No, actually no tr tweaks were required for mine. Those strings are super comfy too!

They fit perfectly! But of course I added a Kickass bridge, which rests a little further back than the factory bridge did. Anyway, on my bass those strings work great! No tweaking required...

Next week I'm putting a vintage fender logo on the headstock... (the only squire factory parts left are the neck, and the body) I'm also upgrading to one of those 3 string trees from Hipshot, to keep my A string down where it needs to be.

These Grover Minis I chose were absolute drop-ins! No new holes required, they just popped in like they were meant to be there! Plus they are true 20-1 ratio, and buttery smooth. I picked them up on Amazon for $65!

I don't agree with replacing the Squier decal. I am proud of my Squier. Just my 2 cents.

Same here, it was the one thing I was determined to keep haha. I don't want to hide the fact it's a Squier, I just want it to be a good Squier!

Completely understand people who want to replace it though, all power to ya!

Actually, I'm not hiding/replacing anything. We're proud of my baby's heritage!
She just happened to be born in Indonesia, then she immigrated to the USA.
Now, she and I live together in Corona, California. We're very happy!

Just a heads up, I will be letting go of my custom Black Korina wood pickguard for my Moni P. I have a custom Maple one headed my way.
