If you have a drill press with a stop these would be a one-and-done deal.
I have a cheapie from Harbor Freight. More than good enough for this kind of work.
OK, this is the wrong type of bass (sorry) but it's on the hand-made pickguard topic.
I purchased a maple pickguard from Ben Van Dyke on Etsy. Invalid Link Removed
Price is $82, and it goes on my short scale SBMM Stingray. I think it's a pretty good deal. He makes a number of different shapes and woods, and I do believe he's made a couple Mini precision pickguards.

Ben does have the template for the mini P as he has made me a couple from the original mini P pickguard that my buddy sent him. They fit perfect. For a custom wood pickguard the price is fair. He has some nice wood choices also. Right now he is making me a pickguard and control plate for my CNZ mini Jazz bass so he will now have that shape on file for future orders also.
Truth be told Curtis, it was your pickguard above that got me to want one for Birdy.That is nice Rod!

There is a guy from Arizona or New Mexico on reverb who makes pick guards for the mini, his details are way back in this thread somewhere
Finally got a chance to play a Mini P at GC today and liked it a lot. Which surprised me, as the neck at the nut is wider than the J widths I always go for. I think it may have been the shortness and lighter weight that may have made the more chunky neck comfortable for me along it's entire length.. Anyway in the future perhaps a Mini P with flats or tape wounds might well be in order?

The nut width is the same as any Jazz bass, 1.5"/38mm, i.e. super tiny and cramped. I wish the Mini had a wider nut, even 40mm like the Bronco would be great.
OK, then that's probably some of why I liked it then. But the neck felt definitely chunkier to me than that of my Mikro, my Cat bass, and my Mustang's neck.

I snapped some internals on a stock tuning peg using my drill to wind it and decided to upgrade. Things got out of hand. I have no regrets.

Are those tuners a perfect drop-in?
EDIT: Can't find the 4 in line version in Europe, they only have the 2L/2R. So annoying!
They required a minute of sanding per hole. Diameter was about a mm off. Screw hole lined up though.
I am very interested in those Wilde P46s. How do they sound compared to your previous pickups? What about compared to other P-bass pickups you've had?

So I only really have experience with my US G&L P bass which has some emphasis on the midrange with a clear tone and some bite.
The p46 has a pretty even spectrum and feels a little richer and deeper in my limited experience with it. Could be short scale vs long scale though.
The stock pickup sounded brittle and had weird overtones but I expected some of that when I bought it. Sounds way better now.
I actually have a backup G&L LB-100 pickup that I ordered through G&L in case I didn't like the p46. I don't know what I'll do with that now.
These Mini-Grover 20-1's are DIRECT DROP INS and a perfect fit a Squire Mini P. Bass! They install in 5 minutes, require NO DRILLING and you can use the original screws on the back. These are the ones I used in my upgrade. They are very smooth and solid, and at 20-1 they are a vast improvement over those factory tuners. Plus, Grovers come with a lifetime factory warranty.
