I agree. By the way, I don't make any upgrades for the TOAN/TONE. That's like chasing Unicorns. Just remember, your RIG is as dependable as it's weakest link! I make upgrades for dependability. I've had equipment fail at the WRONG time (too many times) and I know what works best for me (and the type of parts I can count on). I pro-actively upgrade things like tuners, bridges, wiring, pots, and caps as needed. But, everyone should feel free to keep their instrument stock, if they so desire. It's their call and it's all good! :)

Sage advice.
Why I recommend a good jack (Switchcraft, Pure Tone, etc). Not because a stock jack won't work. But because I've heard (and experienced) plenty of instances of a real cheap stock jack failing, getting loose etc. Paying a couple/few bucks for a decent jack is cheap insurance.

Realy doesn't matter for me as I don't gig and have an unhealthy amount of instruments! :roflmao:

In 1978 I ran onstage and plugged the cable into the top of my new (Alembic Style) Ibanez (to which I'd already added a Switchraft Switch & Jack) then tripped and in the process ripped a 3" hole in the top of the guitar (in front of about 1000 people). Fighting back the tears, I got back up and realized that somehow the jack was still hanging in mid-air by the 2 wires soldered to it! I faked a smile, stuffed the jack back into the hole and somehow finished the set. In the picture below you can see the recently repaired/patched guitar on the left (the original jack was on the top, where the toggle is), and that same guitar 2 years later after we added Black Nitro, Dimarzio Distortion Plus's and an Ebony board with Cloud inlays. I've been a big fan of high quality Switchcraft jacks ever since. :)

The Mini P sounds...like a P. So totally different from the Bronco. I love it.

My Bronco imo sounds terrible with the stock pickup and with the cheap dual blade humbucker I replaced it with. Too bad I'm too broke to buy a better pickup and/or route it for larger pickups.
Lovely neck that needs better tuners but there are no quality drop ins. The holes in the headstock need to be reamed.
What a mess of a bass.

They should just bring back the Squier Musicmaster but with a pre-1978 pickguard please!

Measure up your bass and see if 80 cm 31.5" will fit on you instrument.

UPDATE:
New strings came in today, and they seem to be exactly what I was hoping for. Correct length, correct sizes.

Notable, but not a big deal: the silks are a darker green than the previous set. And the exterior of the strings are more consistent in smoothness across all four.

Now to record the current set-up to verify how it sounds once they are changed.

Remember friends, this is not a Mini, this is just complete information having to do with where you can order custom short scale strings! That's why I'm not including a pic of the bass. You can see the headstock in my avatar photo.

Not my main because I have several different basses, but I would happily use it for R&B/soul kind of stuff, or if I wanted a Paul McCartney Beatles'y tone. Mine has flatwounds on it.
