As an option instead of plugging and re-drilling, you could just make or buy bushings to fit. It's what I did with Mouse (not a Mini). Tuner conversion starts at post 36.

Or am I just conflating you with some other intrepid modder?Yes, Fender of Japan has a 30" short scale Fender junior series Jazz but they go for $1100-$1500. It would be cool if Squier would release a 28.6" mini Jazz for $199 - $249 like the mini P
It's the screw holes on the back of the headstock that are in the wrong place on this one, so not a big deal to plug those and put it right.
The large holes for the tuners are the right size & location.

Haha, yes I did and I still have that one. Combined the J&D mini Jazz neck with a CNZ mini JB body and I do like it but I am not a huge fan of the composite fretboard that comes on both of those J&D and CNZ Basses. I do like the Laurel wood fretboard on my Squier Mini P though and I would enjoy a Squier Mini Jazz if they would make one
I might sell my Franken Mini Jazz to fund something else. I play my Mini P the most at home.

It’s a Hipshot Vintage style bridge.
Fitting the neck route is the least of the concerns. The distance between the bridge and the 12th fret has to be the same as from the nut to the 12th or it won't intonate.
Moving the bridge and plugging the screw holes shouldn't be a problem.
One could also buy a 28” scale baritone conversion neck and mate that with a Trle body and the right hardware for a 4 string Mini T Bass.
OR......instead of all that parts buying/ juggling,measuring, hole drilling, hole filling, etc, one could simply scrape together $179 and just buy another Mini P !!

Actually, I would have to buy another one for the neck. I just thought it would be a fun project and end up with something a little different.
wow love the blue colour. Did you paint that yourself?? The first bass I modded was a blue jay turser mini p but not that blue.

Its nice to have a spare mini p for parts.I Wait untill I find a used one,or new on sale or discounted.If you have the moding skills,thats great. Ill have 3 when Im done experimenting.LOL.My goal is to have a fretless & fretted.Maple and laurel neck versions of these, totaly moded my way.For about 5-600$.I can have 3 or 4 diferent basses that fit like a glove,and are me.Im almost done with my fretless red laurel version with black hardware.On a trial run with nylon tapes,It was fabulouse.played like a dream.No fret noise at all.just beautiful upright sound.It sounded better than my defretted acoustic electric.The magnetic pickup emulates the stand up bass sound better than the pezio acoustic.Just my experiments.I plan on installing a magnetic pickup on my acoustic,and try it out to see if there is any difference.I may buy 2 more mini p's.Fender may discontinue these some day and id have to use an Ibanez Mikro,Nice bass but not my cup of tea.I'd Be sad.Fender may also come out with maple fretboard & fretless versions of the Mini P latter.Who Knows?I dont have alot of extra money,but Im addicted to the Mini P like a drug.LOL.Sorry for the Chatty Kathy!
That is an interesting mod!! Nope, mine came in that colour. When I saw it posted online in the photo I thought it was the standard blue, but when I picked it up it turned out out to be the sparkle surf blue colour that is pretty hard to find.
Wow that is rare colour , I could not find any google images etc.
I've disassembled the bass & done a lot of measurements, checking that what I want to do will actually be possible.
Maybe mine was put together on a Friday, or maybe I'm just expecting too much from such a cheap instrument.
Can see why the bridge was not on straight.
Putting a straight edge on these, there's a good 1mm deviation, and they are drilled at various angles into the body too, was definitely done by hand by someone not getting paid enough to care. Going to keep the hole closest to the G, plug the other four and re-drill using a drill press.
Headstock is a similar story, but to be fair the guy had everything stacked against him to get them straight.
The holes bored for the tuner are a shade over 14mm, the body of the tuner 13.5mm, hence the slop back & forth. The nuts were loose out of the box so that didn't help either.
Haven't measured the diameter of the Hipshots yet but I imagine i'll have to do that aluminium tape trick to build up the diameter for a snug fit. The screw holes will be plugged & drilled with everything straight.
And lastly the electronics, thanks to EMG having scale drawings in their instructions I can see that what I want will fit in the cavity with a bit of additional routing, and the existing depth of the cavity is just about right as is.
For anyone who was wondering (as I was) the body is 37.5mm thick including the finish, depth of the cavity is 32mm.
So the body is also just deep enough for a Gotoh battery compartment to be put in the back too, just...

@Cambo351 - I'm guessing pickguard, bridge, and tuner mounting holes are drilled by hand with a flimsy template. Luckily, my bridge and tuners are on straight enough for my liking, but damn the pickguard screws are crooked.
I can confirm the EMG pots will fit, as I put an EMG GZR in my Mini P.
