Yeah, there's a few Star Trek series in reruns on cable. But the original series is the only one I'll watch. You're right, the remastering folk did a good job of balance while buffing things up.

No no no!!!! You messed with the Best...and I do not like it!:sour:

It makes the ship look cartoon like....as the Next Generation ship always looked unreal to me.

The Original was perfect....You shouldn't mess with the Enterprise !

Now..Get off my lawn :woot:

This is the Enterprise as I recall it. I was a kid when my dad was serving aboard and deployed to blockade Cuba. Later on he took me aboard and I was on the flight deck (and began what I didn't realize then would be my growing fear of heights).

I mean as long as pedantry is going to be the watchword of the day . . .

And thank the flying spaghetti monster for that!
May we be touched by His Noodly Appendages. RAmen.

So... I take it you didn't join the Navy LOL.

Your post reminded me of my first deployment on the USS America (6 months) with my A-6 Intruder squadron. A squadron mate (and his tool pouch) on the flight deck got blown over the side from jet blast by a repositioning aircraft. It's about a 60 foot (18 meter) drop. Spoiler alert, he was fine. During flight ops, a helo is always airborne to rescue pilots or crewmen, so they picked him up.

His first reaction was to start swimming after the carrier. The rescue swimmer told him (essentially), "No matter how fast you swam, you'd never have caught it. Could've relaxed and enjoyed a swim 'til the helo picked you up." LOL

Back to topic, the Original Series Treks are shown once a week (other Treks shown 5 times/week). It's in a Saturday night to Sunday morning lineup on MeTV (cable). Cool viewing for me, starting with Svengoolie. Then a sequence of shows from my past.

Svengoolie first, then Batman, Star Trek, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, Lost in Space, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Land of the Giants, Time Tunnel, The Invaders. This Saturday's Star Trek is "Patterns of Force".

Once a week? Check for the "H&I" network (rerun channel) on your cable outlet, or over the air. They run every Trek series, back to back in blocks, 6 nights a week:

LMFAO!

I just checked my listings and didn't have it selected as a "Favorite Channel". I have alot of channels de-selected so I don't have to scroll thru so many.

Thanks for letting me know. It's now in favorites. :)

And the first thing I see is Original Star Trek "What Are Little Girls Made Of".

Trek re-runs are pretty much the only reason the TV stays on after the evening news in this household. 😅

Nope, Dad was a career Marine. His sole advice about the service to me was if you sign up join the Air Force because "all their buildings are brand new". ;) Still remember being a teenager at Beaufort Naval waiting to see a doctor and the waiting area was cordoned off by a chain with a sign that said the area beyond that was closed due to falling concrete so his advice really kind of rang true.

As an avid reader of all things, including sci-fi, I was blown away by the concept of traveling and living in space that Star Trek showed. As a teenage male with raging hormones I was further blown away by the concept of ships full of women wearing miniskirts and go-go boots. 🤣

Cable channel H & I TV (or as I like to pronounce it, Handy TV) broadcasts a block of ST content every weeknight and Sundays starting at 7 PM Central (I'm assuming this isn't news to most here). I scan the guide every day to see what is scheduled in case there are episodes I find of particular interest. I mention it only because last night was Epi 1 of the classic ST:TOS 2-parter The Menagerie and I will definitely be watching Epi 2 tonight. ST:TOS fans know The Menagerie is of note for a number of reasons: only 2 part-er in TOS era; draws from unused footage shot for the series pilot The Cage (so we see the original "Number 1" and doctor); won a Hugo award.
Just FYI.
