Hi, some lovely basses on this thread. This is my Status, a Rhino Edwards Charger which I bought s/h a couple of years ago. An absolutely outstanding instrument which has replaced my Sei as my main bass, something I would never have expected!

Sweet bass! I been waiting a while for a number, I'm not sure the guy who runs the club visits often so it might be a bit.

I guess. Well, I'm thoroughly impressed with the bass, best low B string I've experienced, completely consistent up and down the neck.

Sorry about the paperwork delay, folks. Those are some very tasty basses, and, yes, herrdruhl, Robs necks are amazing. The thing that struck me most when I first received my Stealth was how I could transpose figures, that I could normally only get away with playing in the upper octave, over the entire freaking fretboard and it was always clear and musical.

Wow, that's really interesting. A little research seems to suggest that the monster pickup at the bridge there is two single coils sandwiching a dummy coil in the middle for hum-cancelling; if that's what it is, you have the same pickups as my Status T-Bass but smushed together at the bridge instead of in the standard jazz positions... How does it sound? MM Stingray-ish?

It plays really nice! More of a jazz neck feel. Less chunky than Stingray. Low action and a flat neck profile.

What strings do you guys/gals use on your Statuses? I put some DR Lo Riders (they love to funk) on, but they're .45- .125 and the action's a little high. I've tried adjusting the truss, but the neck's not moving, and I don't want to damage it.

According to the guy I got it from (and the guy he got it from, and the paperwork in the case), mine is an 09, so it should turn to the right, like normal...

My experience with Status basses is that they come new with the truss rod almost loose. The first few adjustments (e.g. <1/8 turns) only take up the slack. If yours has never been adjusted it maybe in this situation and you just need to turn it a little more. I have recently bought 3 basses and the action on all of them responded to truss rod adjustment very well and set up with really low action (which I since put back to the stock set up).

I use the usual guage double ball end Status round wounds.

Thanks- I usually only do a 1/4 turn at a time, and never force anything. I'll give it another shot.

Where do you get the Status strings here in the states? Mine is a headfull (vs headless), so I'd only need single ball ends...

I order mine direct from Status, usually a few sets at a time to amortize the shipment cost from the UK.

Back when I had headless basses I used Status strings and found them to be excellent! What was cool back then was that they had some real Unicorn varieties of double-ball strings like black nylon, flat wound, half-ground, etc. Sadly it looks like their string OEM relationship has changed and they don't offer those at this time, although their web site says they hope to again in the future, which would be really cool.

I also have a set of their bronze acoustic strings on my Tacoma CB10 right now, and they are also excellent!
