Hi guys ! I'm new to this neighborhood. I've owned a few Status basses over the years, but none kept may attention for one reason or another.
Well, I finally got my custom back after six long months of sitting in a very busy shop here in Santa Rosa, CA. Groat Instruments, the former shop of Michael Dolan does nearly all my work.
It's a Status Graphite neck I bought here on TB, a Korina (or Koa) 5 string body modded into a 4, Hipshot tuners with a Drop D, Babicz bridge (my first and boy, are these light and amazing !), all Bartolini pups and pre. New set of tires in the form of Dean Markley Blue Steel 40-100. This bass weighs only 8 lbs !!!!
It sounds warm and punchy. Plays like a dream, but I need to do a minor adjustment to suit my playing. The blend knob is first and the volume second. I think it was an oversight, but I actually love it. I use the blend more than volume to achieve tone, so it worked out great. I can easily switch it if it ends up annoying me. 3-way mid mini toggle. Love it.
I can't stop playing this bass. Bob Groat asked if I specifically chose all the components because it's a sonic home run. I felt justified in my patience of waiting for the right neck and body to come up for sale. The rest was easy to find.
