There was mention of a 40th anniversary but I'm not sure what that implies. Maybe they are backlogged - or maybe they want some downtime. I really have no idea.

^^ That would make sense then. They need to set all the new tooling up, test run it, check for tolerance and consistence, then deal with the order backlog as well as parts chain issues they may be having. Get all that sorted, then take new orders.

Does anyone here have experience with both the Chris Wolstenholme pickup placement and the standard S2 pickup placement? I'm curious as to how much (and in what ways) it affects the tone. Is it that much "fatter" sounding? Does it still have a lot of punch? How is the slap tone? Any feedback appreciated.

I think the preamp makes more of a difference than the pickup placement and it has an adjustable mids circuit. But the PUP placement does give a bit darker a sound when favoring the neck position.

They do the headless with the BendWell and that makes it a 32" scale, but yeah, there isn't a 32" headed option, as far as I can tell.
I don't see any current stock of 5 strings with the BendWell. I know they exist, was just hoping to see one in current stock.
Oh, yeah, I gotcha. I'd love to see a headless 5 available again (and a bank balance showing I could buy it, too, of course).

Got the strings the other day . 90-30 crazy light.. but they are fantastic . You gotta play light but the bass sounds massive !
