The stoner/doom bassists thread...

i am not super into intronaut's recordings (haven't heard the newest one), but their rhythm section blew me away live. Joe Lester (intronaut's bassist) is the Naz!!! Rocking a pedulla fretless through an swr (he's now endorsed by ampeg), he and the drummer simultaneously groove and pummel!

recorded real rough @ practice. i just love it because it was suggested I start the song :D :bassist:
probably the 3rd time we ever played that. excuse the screw ups. I just dig my bass tone a whole bunch & wanted to share.
:)
Jeremy

NICE. Awesome bass tone for sure.

Been hearing about you dudes around here lately. Here in northwest Indiana, everyone knows Kasparian for his old band The Arnolfini Marriage (later named Revolting Vision). They're one of the bands from the old music scene here that everyone still wishes was around. ha

Hopefully I'll be able to make it out to that show May 24th and see you dudes live.

Whoa. Wild. Yeah man, Kaspy shreds. We've got their old drummer too, Brian - not sure if you know him. You should come out man! it's going to be a blast! I keep telling Kaspar that we need to play out in the Valpo area.

Damn, didn't even know that was the same drummer. That's pretty rad. My first band played some scummy legion hall in Cedar Lake with Plague Bringer a long time ago, and my second band played with Arnolfini/Revolting Vision a couple times. Glad those dudes are still making music.

If you ever end up playing Valpo keep Mors in mind. We'd be stoked to play. As soon as we have a means of transport again, I'm going to try to get us some shows up in Chicago. Only played there a couple times, at a small crummy bar on the north side. Past attempts at getting shows up there have failed for the most part though. Seems a lot easier for the bands that are actually from there. ha

For sure man. I'll definitely keep you posted.

Wow, glad I finally checked this thread out!

Maybe I should have posted this here:

edit: And wow, now that I read this it totally looks like spam. If that's the case- sorry stoner dudes.

Anyway- Posted this a while back in the 'Recording' area and got no feedback. Even if people thought this totally sucks, I kinda thought I would get something...

What you're hearing is an Ibanez SR500, into a Supercollider Beast into a GC Acoustic B200 combo. Just felt like sharing it with people who might appreciate loud, fuzzed-out noise

so heres what I use.
Either the Fender 300 Pro with the 215 or 610 or both.

or the Sunn1200S with a Berg NV412 and NV610.
or the Ampeg SVP1600/SVP-PRO into the same cabs.

or for smaller shows.. the Ashdown ABM EVOII with Aguilar AGRO rackmount into the NV412

pedal chain: Fender tuner > Sanford and Sonny Bluebeard > OxFuzz Bass Fuzz > Fender Sublime > TAFM > Fuzzrocious Dark Driving > Cathedral Reverb!

Basses: Fender American Jazz Standard, EBMM Stingray SLO, EBMM Stingray HH, Fender Deluxe American Deluxe.

Love it!

Although why is it plural.

That should be your DOOOOOMMMM RIG! <----No "S"

I get the impression that you like black basses.

actually I just like em understated.. I hate flashy... If I coulda found any of these in woodgrain I woulda gone for it.. but I found black ones when I had the bucks..

btw.. this is a monument to buying used! the only things bought new were the SLO and the fender 610.. thank you Talkbass!
