The stoner/doom bassists thread...

The MONOBROW album is now available on vinyl for anyone that is interested.

Glad I found this.
first off- thanks for offering a digital download in FLAC. I've spend a lot of time and money converting everything to FLAC, and it's always appreciated when I'm able to buy and download new bands/albums this way.

Second- thanks for recording a darn good album. You guys are pulling off a couple of things that are hard to do: 3-piece, no vocals. Rough way to go, but it works.

Third- I get the impression you guys grew up listening to more than just Kyuss and Fu Manchu. There are more good riffs and ideas in each song than I usually hear on entire mainstream albums!

And lastly- love the bass playing. In the pocket when you need to be, and some serious riffing when you can get away with it. Nicely done!

Thanks for all the compliments, much appreciated. Especially love your third point and I'm glad that it comes through in our music.

Bass needs seriously turned up, vocals need seriously turned down. He DI'd my SVT when I probably should have made him mic my bassbombs instead. Plus the vocal mic feedback is painful. All I got was a wav file burned onto the CD so couldn't do any mixing.

Oh well, the show was fun and the recording was free :) At least my tone is pretty wicked when you can actually hear me during the solos... Drums sound terrific and Bryan shredded his face off on the one solo.

Normally, I'd get all snarky and be like "they played in Chicago last year, and then Colorado," but obviously that's a ridiculous travelling distance for you poor souls living in places that aren't close to each other.

That said, a few friends and I drove six hours to see 'em in Philly.

Make it happen. :p

I drove 3-4 hours to see them in Chicago. Driving through Chicago is like driving through Fallujah! Luckily I have a place to stay when I go down there.

A few friends of mine were at the Chicago show, that venue seemed pretty sick.

I'm lucky enough to have never driven through the city, but as an often-terrified passenger, I totally agree.

Checking out the live stream now, getting the billows feature (yeah, you heard me) up this afternoon.
