Is the solid state circuit part of it based on or inspired by any known fuzz, or is it a pure original design (if such even exists at this point)?

You're not wrong. The amount I've spent on R&D for the three together is significant, and if my wife asks how much I will change the subject.
I think you could reasonably say it's inspired by a fuzz face, with some tweaks like a widened low-end response. I was having a conversation with one of the guitarists in my band, and the best description I could come up for him was "picture a tube boost pushing a fuzz face then pushing a tube amp's front end."
If you had only done a Bax tone stack this would have irresistable. I will stand pat with my AusTone Fuzz Nutz TexTone. Oh well.
I didn't feel like a full tone stack was warranted in this design, the single tone knob does well at giving a nice range.
Looks more like a bomb waiting to be dropped, perhaps a fat tubey low-D.
Ah this is tempting from the description alone, will it do that ripped velcro synthy type fuzz tone?
I have a love hate relationship with bass fuzzes, sometimes they do exactly what I want them to, and other times they're a pain in the backside.
Do the tube stages act as a bit of a buffer stage so that it plays nice with other pedals?

Just got the Neptunium. What a massive sounding pedal! Perfect combo with my P
Would the Neptunium be Sushi Box's pedal closest to the famous (and expensive) Noble?
My friend whom I got this from has a Noble and says it's pretty darn close! He offered me if I plan to sell it in the future he wants to buy it back.
You feel the meat and body of the tone from the Neptunium is all I can say. I'm hppy with my purchase. I plan to make a demo of this comparing it to the Regal DI of my Stomp.
I've had this one for a year now. I bought it for home use and have not experienced any latencies, drop outs or tone loss. Pretty surprised when I used it in our function and pub gigs it has worked really well and have been using it extensively. I still bring a cable with me just in case. Only thing I don't like is that the build feels cheap, like a toy if you drop it it will break, that kind of feel. Although it is is cheap and that is something that should be expected with that price range.
But so far it's been great. Ive used it a lot in my videos too

Is there a tone stack in there, similarly to a Tone Bender MKIII or a Big Muff, or is it more a blend between caps?
I'm not trying to make you reveal your circuit, of course, just curious as a very small time solder monkey.
Either way, with two tube stages I imagine this pedal is capable of tremendous output.

Just a quick note from me upon receiving the UA in the mail this morning! I was kind of shocked that standard shipment only took 9 days from Mr. Sushi and all the way to Denmark / EU. I was fearing the worst and imagining having to wait for like a solid month or so! Now comes the fun part hooking it up to my board. I'm so excited to try it out - good thing I have a gig coming up tomorrow evening with my band. Can't wait to hear it live!

Definitely looking for a demo. need to see you "sweep the knobs" (while playing), so we hear how it affects the sound (Looper)?...
With the soft switching in the latest revisions do the pedals retain the switch state when powered off?
From what I understand:
The closest would be the Nobelium, Sushi did a limited run of the pre-built pedals a while back.
The Neptunium is a scaled down version of the Nobelium, the Neptunium does not have the "Cab Sim" section for the 1/4" output but the XLR is the same as the Nobelium.
The Nobelium is very much like the Noble, if you ripped the big heavy power supply out of a Noble and installed a light weight power supply that can run on 9-12V input.
There is always the Nobelium DIY PCB that Sushi sells through his C2CE shop, or the kit from Musikding, if you or a friend can build pedals.
Some people who built the Nobelium used only 1 Tube, they only wanted to use the XLR so they did not build the 1/4" output section that uses the second Tube.
