Mike actually uses 12AY7 in his, I unfortunately don't keep those on hand.Ask if Mr. Watt will sign them and throw in an 12AT7, make it the Mike Watt Special Edition
Funny that you should mention it though, I've been talking to Mike lately about another project unrelated to Finally. I told him two months ago I would send him a prototype to play with and it just barely went into the mail this week. Hopefully I'll hear back from him soon (he's a busy guy, but still always seems to find time to get back to me) and we can move forward on it.
As a mediocre bassist (my passion far outweighs my talent) I love getting input from people that actually play, and I'm continually in awe at how lucky I am to work with people like Mike Watt.
I think you make the best bass preamps that are affordable by the average person, hands down. The only non-Sushi preamp I have is the Phil Jones PE-5, and that's for upright (and the UA does a really good job with upright IMO because of the interactive tonestack). Now if you made a tube power amp so we could use any Sushi preamp with a modular tube power amp...

i find that the slampegg also works well for upright.
@Sushi Box FX - out of pure interest and following a read up on the thread regarding the UA - could you comment on the latest Summer 2024 iteration that I just purchased. What voltage is it running the tube at? There has been different voltages through the iterations? Right?
The current version of UA has the high voltage rail set at 350V. If I remember right (I'm on mobile and can't conveniently look it up) the only current pedal that still runs 230V is Black Eye II, because I actually like it better at 230V than 350V.
Just made the swap on the website, the "non-WBIM" Finally v2 has been put up in place of the WBIM. I don't have any units built up yet and I'll be out of town Saturday and Sunday, but I'm hoping to get some units built up Monday to have on stock. But backorders are open for those people that like knowing they'll get a place in line.
I would use silicone gasket maker. It stays there until you don't want it there, and peels up easy to remove.I think dual lock might be thick for inside a pedal. I use some to hold a power supply underneath a pedal board. The thin dual sided tape may be a better fit in there. IANAB. (I am not a builder)

Nathan, just for clarity for the people ordering the Finally v2, is the version for sale now the same circuit as the WBIM or is it more suited for normal guitar ?
Is it fine for Bass guitar ?
I just thought it might need some clarity because some people wanted the WBIM version without the WBIM written on the box. ( I thought )
Perhaps I'm the only one confused about this.

Same circuit, just missing the WBIM logo on the enclosure.
The only difference that might make a Finally "more suited for normal guitar" is which 9-pin dual-triode tube you put in it...
The low-gain 12AU7 is pretty popular when using a Finally for bass; while using something with more gain, like a 12AX7 or 5751, is probably a better fit for guitar.
(Personally, I really like using a 5751 in my Finally, which works well for me with bass, guitar, and synths)

Yup, exactly this. The description on the two listings was literally copy/pasted from one to the other. "With Bass In Mind" is the bass lessons program of the incredible Philip Mann. And while Finally (both v1 and v2) was designed specifically for bass, literally everything I make was designed specifically for bass.

I think you should make a tuner with a kill switch called "Or Less".
As someone who has an almost completely Darkglass board, where would you put a UA in your chain?
TU-3 > Hyper Luminal > B7K Ultra > UA > Element

Best to simply try it patched-in at different locations. Might work best at the beginning, the end, or in between?...
