What are the pros/cons of running a HPF at the beginning or end of the chain? I have a HPF on my amp, so it's at the end of the chain for me, but wondering if it will allow me to push pedals harder before they "fart" if I put one at the beginning.

How much of a difference it makes and whether it's beneficial at beginning, end or middle depends on what comes before/after it and where it's set, so experimentation is the path to optimization. I'm fine with cutting all the mud out before the signal hits any FX, but you may want big lows to hit another pedal hard in order to generate a specific response...like greater OD or more low freq triggering of an envelope filter......or you may want to cull all those deep vibes before an octaver. I also like using it 1st for the simple reason that my Broughton "always on" HPFs are configured in a way that allows cable and 9V inputs on top of the pedal, which allows it to take only 1.1" of board real estate and is very handy for my "baby board" which is actually a plastic case that I never put on the floor/ always sits on my amp & fits in a gig bag pocket. It's only about 7x10". In the pic the Broughton is mounted on its' side at the beginning/ on the right.

I like to run my HPF at the end of the chain to clean everything up before it gets amplified, many like to run one at the beginning, to clean everything up before it hits any pedal and I've also seen people running them before/after certain pedals.
I think with many things whilst there maybe be general consensus for placement position, experimentation is the only way to really hear it. I always recommend using a looper and recording the the different set ups. This way the input is identical each time and you can compare them side by side, acoustic memory can play tricks on you!
I know they're on backorder at the moment, but the order is in for my Finally V2 - very excited to get it and add it to the sound. I'm going to start with the standard low-gain 12AU7 tube, but I'm interested in swapping in a 12AT7 or 12AX7 to see how it reacts to getting hit with a boost. My plan is to get this to be my "clean-ish" sound and work it up from there. We're getting ready to record some new tracks and I think this is going to be a killer tool for the whole band as we track parts.
Are you experiencing issues with pedal flatulence? Having an HPF at the beginning could potentially help, for sure.
As @lomo and @GR7G5TER have mentioned, there is no right/correct place to put one, it all depends on use case scenario. Similar to you, I have mine right near the end of my chain (second last pedal), just before a compressor/limiter. This way, it can tamp down on any big low end frequencies generated earlier in the signal (looking at you, octave and envelope filter pedals!), which in turn helps prevent excess low frequencies from triggering too much compression.
HPF is tucked on the underside of the board (note the blue light poking out from above the Xerograph Deluxe).
That LU is an absolute dream. 5751 tube swap has allowed me to really push the “saturated clean” sound super far without fully entering breaking/OD territory. The humble (ie: horrid!) Rumble 40 in this rehearsal space sounded incredibly bland and lifeless without the aid of some Sushi. Perfect touch of umami

I'm one of those two timing filter guys. I use a LPF and HPF at the very beginning of my chain. I start with a BBA. it's really for extreme and inaudible frequencies. It also acts as a buffer for my obsession with passive basses. Cleaning up those frequencies allows downstream pedals to work a little better. Then everything runs through the majority of my pedals before hitting my RFE. That one is used to set exactly where I want the filter to touch the sound. Add a touch of resonance at the cut off points and suddenly everything sounds amazing. It's great for tuning your sound to specific rooms. Who woulda thunk that cutting out some low end would make it sound bigger and tighter!

Fdeck makes a nice very little HPF pedal, it has a variable HPF frequency and supposedly works great from all I have heard about it.

Just got a chance to play with my new (used) Venus X. Nice! A little more subtle in the EQ than I was expecting but still has a GK'sh thing working.
1 question though. In which direction does the Cab Sim switch actually engage the sim? The effect, if any is very, very subtle. Is that normal ? Is there an internal adjustment ?

So literally two days after I explicitly tell a customer I will not be making Finally v2 without the WBIM logo, the print shop used the wrong file and I have 25 Finally enclosures without the WBIM logo. Trying to decide what to do there.
They also decided the Dreamcatcher artwork needed a white background that I did not ask for, so I'm not sure when Dreamcatcher will be available yet.
They've never messed anything up for me before, but they are getting a strongly worded email.

I'm not that guy - but I'd prefer the regular v2 enclosure vs the WBIM, I'd just decided I'm to wait or seek out a used one and it was more important to put money in your pocket and a pedal on my board. Tube is less important, and I wanted to try all the flavors anyway
That sucks. I hope they are able to offer a satisfactory solution. If not, @AKBraves might have the right idea. Folks do love a limited edition!
Time to break out the Sharpie! Or maybe some medal stamps like how Fairfield does it with the BarberShop and stamp WBIM on it? Could look cool!
Sharpie and a coat of clear over the top, also sign them as limited edition and charge double.
That will probably be what I'll do. Even if I were to get a refund for the enclosures, that would still mean a 3-4 week wait to get replacements in. I would much rather make use of the ones I have, so I'll probably temporarily stop WBIM ordering and open regular v2 ordering. I just disabled backorders for the WBIM Finally v2, and as soon as I get the some units built up (probably early next week) I'll open ordering up for the now limited edition non-WBIM Finally v2.
