The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Well the Grand Slampegg finally arrived yesterday (despite Royal Mail's best efforts to mangle it by dropping it over the gate). I only had about 10 minutes to try it out before heading out the door, but already I'm a little bit in love. I know I know it's probably new pedal honeymoon phase, but it just sounded great, straight into the audio interface to use as a headphone amp.
The bass dial is addictive, it just gets bigger and fatter the more it's turned up, and until it was almost maxed out it never felt like too much or too muddy. I was also surprised at how hifi the pedal can sound as well, although based on the other Sushi offerings I have, it probably shouldn't have been a surprise.
Definitely another hit

DOES ANYONE OUT THERE WANNA SWAP HIS SINGLE CHANNEL UA OR ELEMENTARY + $25 CASH FOR A DETECTIVE?

I love my detective but am having a minor board real estate crisis....am therefore willing to swap my 2024 Detective for an Elementary or UA + 25 bucks via PP. I can receive the package at a PP confirmed VT address. The only thing I am picky about is it'd have to be recent enough to have the polarity fix (Nov 2022 or later build). PM me if interested. Thx

Which would you all recommend? The GrandSlam or the VenusZ? Playing active basses(Warwick,Sandberg,Alembic) in country/classic rock band. I'm running ampless with an Atomic Bass Box right now and it does ok... but, it just feels like it's missing something. Which route would you go? I have a GK MB212ii for when I do need an amp so I'm sorta leaning Venus Z.

For country and a lot of material an Underground Accellerator and a Finally (or other really good DI) covers a lot of ground. I have VenusX, Nobelium and a pair of Underground Accellerators at the moment. The UA's are my fave. I didn't find the James tonestack to be particularly country'ish. My experience with it was using Arkham Oracles. I've each flavor of that one. Still have the US's. The Oracles are long gone. The Oracles are very nice but somehow they just don't stick with me.

I recorded country songs recently for my buddy with just a broughton omnicomp>sushi box ua(eq off)>broughton l+h filter>radial sb2 di
It sounds perfect using a $200 ibanez 5 string with 3 year old rotosound flats. I'll post a link when he releases it.

I'm getting tired of updating my bookmark for this thread, every day there is another page or two and my bookmark is always on the wrong page.
Is there any way to make a link to this page where you always land on the newest page ? I use Firefox if that helps.
Maybe I'm just getting old and cant keep up ? :roflmao:
( I do love that there are so many new posts to read though )

I love using the UA into a Finally for theatre/musicals gigs, it's neutral without being sterile, enough eq to tweak to taste but not so much baked in character that it can't be flexible.
However when it's gigs that are for me, I usually go stereo, and oracle on one side (although possibly now the GS) with either the UA>Finally pairing, or the Neptunium, pretty much the perfect sound for me.

At the top of this page there is an option to Watch the thread. Then, use this link..

https://www.talkbass.com/watched/threads

..to view a list of all your watched threads.

Threads with new posts since your last visit will be titled in bold case and when you select the thread it'll jump you to the first unread post.

Thanks, that might be just what I want, I never realized how many threads I have been watching until I went to that page.
Time to un-watch some old threads I think.

I’m still a little confused on the preamp/xlr out relationship on the finally V1.

I believe the xlr is preamp only. So then why when I switch the 1/4 output from pre to dry, does it also increase the output of the xlr out?

Hey everyone, I got back from vacation this afternoon and am working on catching up (A HUNDRED AND FORTY EMAILS???). I'll be shipping what I can tonight, but I see a lot of the orders are (as usual) backorders for Finally, so I'll get started building those tomorrow and get them out as quick as I can.

If you're one of the MANY people waiting on an email from me, you may see a reply tonight or it may be tomorrow, but you'll hear from me.

I know it’s a ways off, and other than having a DI, what are the planned improvements for the SBVTII vs the original? Got the opportunity to buy an original and wondering if it is worth it seeing as I won’t need a DI (I’ll just run it into my Neptunium) but that being said, if there is any new features or components there are going to really upstage the original SBVT I can wait…

I have some questions about the SB More, I've tried to dive back a ways in the search history to find someone with some audio samples but the only ones I found the links broken. Has anyone swapped away from stock tubes in the more and what was the reason/outcome. does anyone have any video or basic audio clip of the More?
thanks
