I thought about it, but you're exactly right, Neptunium would have to go into a bigger box if I were to do it C2C style. I could probably fit it into a 1590BB so it would be a similar setup to Venus Z, so it would be smaller than Nobelium, but not by much.


They're not wildly different, but they're not not exactly the same circuit either.

For things like this I really like talking to my wife, because she's not an engineer or a musician, so I can get unbiased opinions from someone who is not completely removed from the situation but definitely less emotionally involved than me. She asked how many other projects I have in development, and I told her. She asked how many of them are similar in operation (D.I., preamp) and I told her. She then asked how many people have expressed interest in another run, and I told her. She said she thinks I should do it, but not until I've cleared a couple things off my plate. So we agreed I should finish up a couple things and then revisit the discussion. And I felt pretty good about that conversation. So I guess it's turning from a "no" into a "maybe"?

Yup, my wife is a brilliant woman in all regards and I'm aware of how lucky I am to be with her. I like to think I'm not a terrible person, but I definitely relate to the feeling of having someone better than I deserve.

My first idea for Finally v3 removed the HPF and added a baxandall EQ to the circuit, making it similar to Neptunium but a little more "Ampeg-flavored". Philip Mann said essentially what you just did, and that's why Finally v3 was redesigned to have the variable HPF instead of the EQ.

baxandall EQ usually is almost useless for me since I need my mids. I end up turning down the bass and treble. I always have to have a variable frequency mid control somewhere on my board.

I seem like I’m forever combating the smiley face EQ, whether it’s from my own equipment or FOH. I get the reasons for it, but slotting in a mix is hard when every instrument is smiling so much.

I’m using an Empress ParaEQ mkii deluxe for the HPF/resonant bump and some extra eq for fixing rooms. It’s great ahead of the finally and basically let me move all of MY sound onto the board and I don’t have to lug my amp around. Now to get some lighter cabs…

I've got a small board that also includes the ParaEQ:

Humboldt ND > SB > Empress Bass Compressor > Empress ParaEQ > Low Rider > Neptunium

Although I have yet to try it sans power amp on a silent stage, the ParaEQ (as well as the rest of the gang) sure sounds good with an amp & cab(s)!

As you say, the Para EQ dials EQ for a variety of situations (+ Boost!).

I need to swap the Neptunium with FinallyV2 and let my ears decide on the slender nuances. Me thinks the Finally brings a bit more "color" while the Neptunium yields a bit more fatness.

Nathan, not to sway your "maybe" one way or the other, but the Neptunium is a great pedal!

The Neptunium is like a good compressor in that I'll never play without it.

I think this is why people will like the Single Slice, I've found I can get it to add quite a bit more fatness to any of the setups I've used it with. Keeping the Comp dial quite low gives plenty of fatness without much of a squash effect, then adding more to taste is quite addictive

Since I am not the sharpest tool in the shed I always get confused where the flat response is on all the different tone stacks, I am thinking about placing a mark on all the knobs where this is. ( Just a small dot or a "F" is enough )
Would it be a crazy idea if I asked that this could be done to all the pedals, and also to the C2CE Artwork files ??
I have a habit of thinking flat is at 12 o clock which is very often wrong.

Typical rule of thumb:

For three-band Fender/Marshall/Vox tonestacks, bass and treble are boost-only and mids are cut-only so flat is 0/10/0

Two-band Baxandall/James stacks are boost/cut for both controls, so flat is 12:00 on both.

SBVT II and Furthermore use a three-band James stack where mids is also boost/cut, so 12:00 is flat there too.
