The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

It took some forcefully worded emails with the supplier, but the Finally v3 enclosures have shipped and will be here Tuesday. I have 20 circuit boards fully built and ready to drop into the boxes, so I should be able to start taking orders Wednesday.

Neptunium will get one more limited release sometime this year. More details on that in the future.

I have other stuff to talk about, but it will wait until I'm at the computer as my thumbs can only handle so much.

Oh man… great news, also happy for all who want a Neptunium, truly is a great piece of equipment. Finally V3 might be going on my HX Stomp board with the UA, Neptunium staying on my Mono Lite board

Wow when I thought I’ll get the finally V3 and be done you give us this news, I’ll be in line with the neptunium for sure.

You'll be shocked to hear I got this question almost daily when Neptunium was first for sale. Aside from the EQ, the stages are set up differently between the two. I would say Neptunium is more transparent, whereas Finally was designed to have more "character" to it, I never wanted it to be transparent.

Thank you! I didn’t need the Neptunium, but picked it up from Nathan when it was released, because it looked so damn cool. As with all my Sushi pedals, none will ever be put up for sale, due to their uniqueness and limited production.

I love compressors, and the Becos is definitely a winner, but I do love the Dark Glass Hyper Luminal for its punch, and the DOD Milkbox for its secret sauce. Shouldn’t have sold the Milkbox.

How about a tube mute/kill switch pedal, or a an analog SS pedal that emulates a tube, with a digital circuit that emulates a tube, with 5 real tubes and 5 transformers in it?

Or both in one pedal, call it the "Ultimate Tubes Kill Switch".

Heck you could throw in a tuner as well, and call it the "Ultimate Tubes Tuna Kill Switch".

In my opinion, for subtle tube harmonics without an EQ, a Finally is the perfect choice (though it also comes with excellent DI output which you may or may not need). Finally is only temporarily out of stock while the newest revision is being produced, it's an always-in-production pedal, and one of Sushi Box FX's best sellers.
If you don't need/want the DI, an Underground Accelerator is basically a Finally with EQ instead of DI (and you can switch the EQ off which makes it virtually a Finally).

The MORE is a good pedal too, but even more subtle than the Finally. It's essentially a clean boost pedal that adds just a slight "tubie" extra depth to the signal.

Unfortunately I ran into the all too common analog chorus issue of consistency. Biasing an analog modulation device to get the right sound every time proved difficult, and Cascade Chorus was shelved for now. I still want to do a chorus, it's one of my favorite effects, but I need to find a better way.

It's been added to my "that's a problem for future Nathan to figure out" pile.

Neptunium is the only pedal I've ever felt myself having FOMO for... and I think it's purely because of it quality, popularity, and scarcity.
What makes that such a strange sensation is the fact that I personally neither want nor need a transparent DI, I love my Finally and adore its quality and subtle-to-noticeable character.
In my opinion, "transparent" is the most boring and least useful thing tubes can do in the 21st century; their uniqueness and magic exists entirely in the non-linear edges of their signal envelope.

Thank you Nathan for articulating the truth I needed to hear to break me from the needless want and fear of missing out on the Neptunium 😅
