[Sushi Box FX]

I’m using a finely V2 at the end of my chain and I’m loving the warmth it adds to my HX stomp. 1 minor problem, the lead has started popping out of the output jack. Is there a way of fixing this without opening her up?

Sometimes the contacts of the jacks can start to bend, resulting in them either holding too tightly or not holding tightly enough. This is easily remedied with needle-nose pliers and a quick bend back in the right direction, unfortunately this isn't something that can be fixed without opening it.

Hi, So I would love to add some tube bounce to my current sound. My rig is a Genzler Magellan 800 and I love it but want some thickening.
That being said there seem to be a ton of great options available for something like that with the Sushi Box products can someone help me out?
First I thought the Underground Accelerator was what I would need, then the Elementary but now I'm wondering if a Finally is what I really need.

I'm not looking for grit or more EQ options. I want a set and forget pedal that will give me some tubey girth and harmonic richness that will live on my pedal board. I have a great DI with the Genzler amp already.

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

The current Finally is basically a 12AU7-equipped Underground Accelerator that's had it's EQ swapped out for a High Pass Filter and a DI added...
Since you don't need the DI, the Underground Accelerator is probably still your best bet (unless you really want the HPF), and since you're not looking for grit, you'd probably want to put either a 12AY7 or 12AU7 in that UA.

P.S.: a MORE might also fit the bill for you, it's basically a clean boost that gives a subtle bit of that tube "flavor"/depth, but it might be less flavor than you're actually looking for...

- does the tube change in brightness according to the input signal?

Single slice compressor might be a slightly left field option, with the compression set pretty low it still gives plenty of warmth and tube feel, plus you've got the option of a bit of extra compression if you want it.

I really hate the color purple and have been thinking of replacing the LED in my Finally with a red or an aqua one.

You can clip off one leg or desolder it if you know how to and the pedal will be fine. But let Nathan chime in before you do anything.

You've gotten some great answers. I'll add that one of the major advantages of the UA is that you can bypass the EQ if you just want a little warmth. It's a versatile pedal and you won't go wrong there.

MORE would be my choice for what you're describing. It adds warmth and harmonics without intruding on the voicing of the amp.

I can't speak to how to "disable" the LED, but I'm also someone who generally doesn't like LED lit tubes, so I can speak a bit to your second part...

The cathode filament is the only thing that lights up in properly operating vacuum tube, and that filament isn't visible whatsoever in the vast majority of 12A_7 tubes. There are a few makes and models of (mostly European) vintage 12A_7 tubes that do "light up", but even on those it's literally just a pinpoint orange dot you can only see in dark if you're looking for it.
So not only would you have to have one of a few certain vintage models of tube to "see" anything at all, even if you do have a tube where you can see the end of the filament, it's not just "faint" it's barely visible.

Cutting out the LED will not hurt the unit, as long as you don't leave any leftover bits of metal touching each other that weren't touching before. The LED is just there to tell you that the unit is on, that's it.

The tube does not change brightness according to the input signal. The heater for the tube is completely independent from the part of the tube that actually does the amplifying and should be completely constant regardless of what the tube is actually doing.

I have three daughters, purple is part of my life.

Seriously though, there are three reasons I put purple (they're actually pink, but basically the same) LEDs in everything:

1. It's unique. It's one of the least common colors I've seen in pedals, and I think that's neat
2. It's not the natural color of "tube glow". It was popular for a while (and some manufacturers still do it) to put orange LEDs behind a tube to give it an exaggerated glow, and I've never liked that. Red is a little better, but I prefer colors that are vastly different from what color a tube will normally be. The tube is doing what it's supposed to be doing, it doesn't need extra orange glow to let you know it's a tube.
3. Back in the day when everything I made was custom made-to-order, I let people choose their LED color, and purple was hands-down the most popular choice. It consistently got twice as many orders as the next most picked color, so it seemed like it was a popular look.

I get that some people don't like the color, and some people don't like LEDs in general, it's a preference thing. But I think these are neat, and my three daughters agree they're pretty.

I am loving my Sushi Box Neptunium. It does not add any overdrive or distortion, just pure big fat present tube tone. I think it’s the closest Noble like sub $1,000 out there.

I've done something similar and More fits the bill for this task greatly. However another option is to get a Glass Butterfly if you can find one second hand (as they are discontinued) This would give you a similar always on effect to the More, though you get 8 different effects that you could subtly blend in also. I like adding a touch of reverb on mine but it also has modulation effects/doubletracker/octave.

My Sushi is Blue and Pink so not far off. If you squint it kinda goes purple
