Good thoughts on the led, tks! Speaking about led colors, I have an Eden Glowplug that has a red led - but the tube is not even apparent.
Kind of tricky to use it as it requires its own power source (15V, center positive).
A different beast from my Venus Z - and certainly pushes are lot of drive.
Curious to know how different it is from the Sushi designs - the Eden has an interesting crossover control in addition to gain, mix and volume.
I heard it is a starved tube - whereas I understand the Sushis run at 300V or more.
I have played changing the tubes on it and seem to have more headroom with a 12AT7.
Has anyone ever compared them to the Sushis?

Sounds great on bass, guitar or keyboards clean, warm or dirty.
Careful it might lead to more dishes to try.

I've never played a Glowplug personally, but looking at the schematic it's running about 45V on the tube plates and uses half a dozen op-amp stages up front to get some drive before you even hit the tube. The tube stage starts rolling off the lows at about 110Hz, which I assume is why they have the clean blend in there.
The UA seems to be the gateway drug into Sushi Box pedals.

The Eden Glowplug needs 15V so the 7812 voltage regulators will work ok.
It appears the circuit runs at 12V, since it uses the 7812 regulators you should have no problem to run it at 18V.
It looks like the center pin is positive in the Glowplug so if you rewired it to center pin negative you could power it with a normal pedal supply that has 18V.
I think there are adapters that can reverse the polarity for you.

In March when I was ordering parts for Per My Last Email, I wasn't paying attention and ordered 30 enclosures but only 20 circuit boards, and that's why there were only ever 20 units made. But over the last month or so I've been cleaning out the workshop and am trying to free up some shelf space, so I ordered 10 more circuit boards for PMLE.
Would you guys be mad if I listed 10 more of these for sale?

Just got home from a rehearsal, where the UA that now has a permanent place on my pedalboard sounded awesome! Still thinking about whether to get another Sushi Box preamp - I almost always gig with two basses, and having separate settings for each would be really nice. Maybe an Elementary for variety?
I Just might have, maybe, possibly thought about, or impulse bought one of these in a panic! Phew.
Are we taking bets on how quickly these will sell out?

)As an owner of one of the original 20 I wouldn't be mad, I think the more people that try this style of preamp the better. Between that and the Grand slampegg they've been my go to single pedal solution for a little while now
Nathan, is PMLE exactly the same preamp as Venus, but in a smaller footprint? If not, what are the diffs? Thx.
I tried a space heater and rolled in a 12au7 (telefunken, don’t ask me why, but it’s smooth!)from the At7.
That gave me the natural compression with a bit of growl as you dig in. For me it’s the magic I have been waiting for. And yes I am in the program.

I think it's accurate to say PMLE is like a "bare bones" version of Venus Z. PMLE doesn't have the bypass options for either output, Venus Z has bypass switches for both outputs. PMLE has all SMD MLC capacitors, Venus Z has all through-hole film capacitors. Venus Z has the same switchable HPF as Neptunium and Grand Slampegg, PMLE does not have a HPF.
Otherwise it is the same preamp. Same circuit, same operating voltages, same tube.
I was initially looking for the PMLE - but when it went out of stock, I ended up paying more for the Venus Z.
The routing options/bypass switches and especially the HPF on the Venus Z made it worthy for me, but the smaller footprint of the PMLE is very attractive...

I was honestly surprised that there were only twenty, and of course we didn't know that until after they were sold out. It was nice to be in the "have one of the twenty" club and may be a bit bummed out to "up" the club to 30, but not "mad" - it isn't the end of the world! Mine certainly isn't going anywhere....
My PMLE wont mind getting some more brothers or sisters, the more the merrier as far as I am concerned.
If you can sell more and make money then go for it, I think most of us here are just happy we can get the type of Sushi we like.
One of the most common comments I get on Venus Z is "I didn't realize how small it was". It's bigger than PMLE, but it's not huge. It's the same size as Black Eye II/JC Emerald, Greenhouse/Grand Slampegg.
