Also, is the Furthermore still on the backburner? You posted a picture of the physical mockup/proto unit but that was like a year ago now.

Furthermore is still on the back burner. I pull it back up from time to time, and I've successfully prototyped a couple of the functions that weren't working on the initial prototype so I feel better about it, but I don't think I'm ready to go full-force on it yet.

I’m trying to get a handle on the implications. Few Q’s:

If I send a separate DI, say from a Sound Engineer supplied DI, to the board prior to the Venus, is my backline projection from the Venus out of phase with the FoH?

I could swap pins 2 and 3 on the XLR Jack to get back in phase; but what about the 1/4” unbalanced output?

That is my guess as well.

My concern is sending signal to various destinations. I don’t want them to be out of phase with each other. Obviously, use of just the XLR and 1/4” would be in phase with each other. But, there are those gigs where the SE insists on their own DI feed….

Saturn works sells a fairly inexpensive buffer with a phase inversion switch.

sbvt ii and grand slampegg are self explanatory but I couldn't find any info on the furthermore. Sorry I have scoured the thread but couldn't find it. What's it all about?

It's been slowly in the works for a couple years now. It's an original design clean preamp, using More as a starting point, with a three-band EQ similar to the SBVT, complete with switchable mids frequencies. Furthermore also has a variable frequency high-pass-filter, D.I. output, and headphone output with line-in.

I have an MXR Phase 95 (which is a mini) downstream from my UA. I don't use it much, but when I do there's no substitute for it.

There's room left on my board too, not in a hurry filling it, leaning towards Elementary, but then again maybe Single Slice....

By chance, I stopped in at the 'local' Music-Go-Round and there in the used case was a Phase 95 for less than Reverb rates. I don't really know anything about flangers, so figured this would be an easy way to try it out. Interesting effect. Not sure how/if/when I might use it, but at least now I have one if I do want it.

Printed up a pedal platform for it (matching color of course). Screwed it down. And it fits nicely in the little board. Now I know for sure I could get any other 1590A or similar in there. Might swap it out for a Blues Breaker clone or maybe one of the Mini TC reverb/chorus options.

IME, modulation FX for bass are best when they have a couple of key features. 1) a volume level is extremely helpful live, because it's rare that the affected signal is at the same/desired volume as raw and 2) a blend, because there are 2 ways I like to use phaser/flanger........super minimally blended in with my raw bass (maybe 10-15% affected) to make it sparkle, or heavily affected, which I use only for a few spacey covers & intros (wish u were here comes to mind). If you're recording then the volume control isn't an issue. YMMV.

The Phase 95 isn't really a "flanger" (modulated short time delay), it's a "phase shifter" (modulated frequency-dependent phase shift). It's a unique sound of its own. I have a Phase 95 (without the cool base you made), I only use it for a few songs but it's perfect where I use it.

+1 on the DIm Stick, it sounds very good and is robustly built in a tiny easy to use package. IMHO is it equivalent to the legendary JDI with a more transparent sound.

Oh yes. Between import tax and the 23% Polish VAT, I get charged 25% of the total amount (price + shipping).

Confirmation of what you already discussed, Venus Z's 1/4" output and XLR output are in phase with each other.

Solid question. Every LED behind the tube in my pedals uses a 1kΩ CLR.

Brief news: Yesterday I spent the day in Seoul, South Korea, hanging out with my new friend Changyong from the RidinBass store. We talked shop and arranged to get some Sushi Box pedals in his store, then he proceeded to spend the entire day as a volunteer tour guide for me and my wife, driving us around the city and showing us the sights. He's a great dude with a great shop carrying some killer brands. My wife said we don't have room in our luggage for a bass, but his Sandberg selection was tempting. If you're ever in the Seoul area, check this shop out!
