Yup, I'm planning to find a good value that will drop the output to around PA level and start doing that for all Dr. Wattsons starting this month.

There's so much room in there, I did two mods :D
SPDT switch to switch between a 22k and a 300k resistor in-front of the pot, then a 250k pot.

Stock = 22k switched with pot turned 'off'
Max= 300k switched with pot full bore (so ~550k)

Do you essentially have 2 volumes now, if you switched out the actual volume pot for something different would this be the same result?

I'm talking to @Sushi Box FX about my wiring/setup. I'm seeing ~ a 10db drop at full-bore, but that's still ~10db louder than PA at the same place. Sounds like maybe >500k is going to be the goal if you want it down to PA level, and even a bit more for Unity. But, I'd love to hear what other's are seeing who've done the mod (if anyone)

As for Unity, it's possible even without the mod; you just only turn the Volume knob up ~10% with Gain at noon. With the mod I've done, I can get to ~25-30% before it hits Unity with full-resistance

For what it's worth, PA isn't Unity unless you turn vol way down as well. Gain+Vol at noon is ~+10db

When I 'standardize' where my signals started/are compensating to make unity == 0db on my meter, Full-mod DrW is ~+24db at noons, PA is ~+10b at noons

My head is saying it is, but ma head been wrong plenty of times before. I was just thinking, already tapping into the volume, wondered if another value volume pot would fix it, harder though. Taking these things apart is pretty tedious

Yup, using a pot in front of the Volume (just found out today that the laser engraved ones say Master, UV printed say Volume) is essentially like having two volume knobs one after the other.

Thank you for the details. I see that you can achieve unity on yours without the mod - I absolutely cannot on mine. Even with minimal gain and minimum volume, the latter basically jumps instantly from "barely audible muffled sound" to 50% perceived volume above unity. If a 220k or 300k resistor gives me unity somewhere within the second third of the volume knob range (to allow for both clean and breakup gain levels) that would be perfect. From what you're saying it looks like I should go to 300k.

Hey Sushi pros.... I was reading back through pages of this thread, remembered seeing something about it but can’t find it ..... was wondering if anyone could direct me to or tell me how the Slampegg is comparing to other pedals on the market for the B15 vibe. Thought I’m still digging the Dr Wattson... I’m open at this point! Thanks!

Thanks- that’s what I recall reading as well. I’m still digging for it. I’m thinking for me, I’d like a base preamp as a starting point to build off of.... I dig the B15 for that.

I have no idea. I'm definitely planning on doing an XLR out with whatever DI transformer I decide I like, haven't really nailed down any other details yet.

The only deal breaker for me is not having an uneffected/thru out. Hence, why I do not own a Two Notes Torpedo Cab M.
