The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

That would require a fiber laser, I have a CO2 laser, which can't do metal by itself. One thing I have experimented with is spraying powdercoat on the enclosure then lasering it instead of curing it, so the unlasered powder just washes off and you're left with powdercoat artwork bonded to the raw aluminum.
How many watts is your machine? You could use cermark, I used it for years before I got a fiber, I know you got the coating down pat, but just in case you had to drum up something fast. I'll engrave powder coated yeti mugs down to metal, then coat them again with a transparent layer, looks really cool, it protects is really well too. I bet the UV will make everything irrelevant anyway, but here's the link in case you want to try it, they also make acid to oxidize alumnium, it can fill and etch black

My machine is 30W, it's a cheap Chinese model with a few modifications. I've used Cermark before, I may even still have a can around somewhere. The big downside for me is that it's $70 a can :P But yeah, I think the UV printing is going to be my go-to as soon as I get it set up. I can print full color on powdercoat or bare aluminum and it won't make a difference to the machine.

I've already had a couple messages about it, I guess it's happening :p I'll get the powder ordered in the next week or so, shoot me an email with your order number and I'll get your color changed over. And I may as well open that up for anyone in November, December or January. I don't want to add a ton of new colors and get overwhelmed, but rainbow's end is happening for sure.

Thanks so much, my order number is #10048. I sent you an email also!

Alright, like I said I don't want to go overboard with new color options, but I just ordered these two, so they will be available as color options for any build starting in November. If you're interested in changing the color you chose please send me an email with your order number and I'll get it updated on your order. November is coming up soon, so I'm going to make November 10 the cutoff for changing your color for a November order.

Did you get the clear vision coating for the apple sugar as well to make the illusion effect?
Yup. I'm planning to see what it looks like without it, because it will probably still be super cool, but I got some just in case.

Yup, it's a cool one. I'm not crazy with the candy green I have right now as it's more of a light teal, so I wanted to try a new green.

Should I apologize? :P

Please don't. I just have to spend the next hour or so debating whether or not I should switch.

Sweet, contact-us form sent to update order! I'll definitely be interested to see with and without the coating.

The website should mark which of those examples is with and without the coating. I feel like the mug and PCB's are without it, and the curved thing is with it.

Edit: gallery says they're all WITH the coating, so no examples without it.

Here at Sushi Box we believe that all pedals are beautiful. But right now it's important for you to know how freaking GORGEOUS this red turns out. Pictures will never do justice (at least pictures taken by my phone :P) but trust me, this thing will make you swoon.

Oh, and this is what the Slampegg artwork looks like by the way.

Random thought, its something I always wanted to implement in a pedal I build some day but I guess I'll share :)

Have you ever considered putting an RGB LED in, with pcb-mounted trimmers on the 3 color legs? Allow the end-user to select/change color as they want. If you got fancy, could even CNC holes for a tiny screwdriver so they didn't have to open the pedal at all.

I don't think I've ever seen a maker do that, and I always wondered why not. I know its a few extra parts/traces, but all-in maybe $1 of components.

You’re right. It does look gorgeous! Only 9 volts on the Slampegg, huh? What’s the ma draw?

That's an interesting thought, but the way my recent layouts have been going (you'll see them soon I hope) I have zero space for extra through-hole components :P

I had one customer (it's always just one) that was having problems with a pedal overheating and shutting down at 12V so I took the 12V off pedals with the same power supply, but in theory it should still work, you won't damage the pedal with 12V, worst case scenario it will run for 15 minutes then shut down until it cools off.

I have a new setup for easily and accurately measuring current draw, I'm planning to get precise numbers as soon as I have one boxed so I can get it with the LED running and everything. I'll post updated numbers here as well as on the website.
I just might change my Jan order from the candy green to that one.
I wouldn't blame you, just make sure you email me when you decide, it's a lot easier for me to keep track of things that way.

Can we get pics of all the new models on their enclosures? This is so cool to watch from beginning to end
Sure thing, I'll probably do that tomorrow as I'm still doing the Slampeggs. There are only two each of Dr. Wattson and London Underground so those will be engraved after. And it looks like I don't have any Sunnday Drives until November, so I don't even have anything planned out for that yet :P
