The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

I keep looking at that picture of all the enclosures and hoping to find a westinghouse in there

Funny you say that, I noticed the same and was already talking to Sushi this morning. There were extra enclosures done last month that he used to fill this month orders. So they weren't new/in this picture because they were already fully ready.

Yup, there were a handful of Westinghouse enclosures that I had finished last month where the original customer decided to either cancel or change the order to another build due to the changes in design, so I had some full color and one raw/simple Westinghouse enclosure ready to go.

Awesome! I appreciate the response, thank you. The excitement is building.....

I cant wait for sound samples/ demos of the jc emerald on both guitar and bass

Smooth way of reminding Sushi

Ooph. I apparently wasn't subtle enough lol

To quote the great Bill Withers, "I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know..." :P

I had actually made time to do a couple demos, but when I got set up to do them I found that one of the preamps I was going to be recording sounded good during initial testing but when I went to do a recording I realized it wasn't behaving quite the way it should, and that derailed my whole recording process.

I have today off from my day job so it's a three day weekend for me, and aside from a repair that keeps getting pushed back the only thing I can work on right now is powdercoating as I'm still waiting for my last parts order so I can get boards put together, so I will absolutely make time to do some recordings this weekend.

I need JC Emerald X, Wrecking Ball X, Black Eye X, King Nothing, anything else I'm missing? Or should I just block out a couple hours and re-do all the preamps I have? That might actually be a good idea.

I finally finished all the full color and raw/simple printing, tomorrow I'll get going on powdercoating. I thought about doing it tonight since I have tomorrow off from my day job, but it's been a long day already. Also if you're looking at the picture and thinking "one of these things is not like the others," obviously that one is for me.

I think I see my robot baby in the corner of the class photo.

Hey Senor - if you do redo the samples - would you try doing a slow full note walk up or down at some point in the demo . It would really help to distinguish different settings from each other - to hear a clean single note in each position . The original demo’s are very energetic and to my ear - make it much harder to tell what is happening with different settings and among the different pedals themselves - thanks, Kelly

Play even less complicated things? I can definitely handle that  and for the sake of accountability, I'm announcing that the demos will be recorded tonight. That's what I have planned, and now that I've told everyone I'm stuck doing it.

So today I took the kids through this drive-thru dinosaur exhibit thing, and they had the dinosaurs separated by the geographic areas they lived in, which gave me this beautiful marketing exhibit

I’d like to publicly acknowledge my appreciation to @Sushi Box FX for taking care of the repair to my London Underground (failed component), at no charge, and I bought it second hand. I’m guessing it was convenient that he could ship it back to me bundled with my new Westinghouse, but still, very cool to be treated so well.
He's a good dude.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I've dealt with too many "gotcha" loophole-filled warranty products, and I think it's a stupid way to run a business. I will always try to take care of customers, even if they aren't the original purchaser, especially if it's because of a failed component. It's still my name on the box (I mean not my real name, that isn't as catchy, but you know what I mean), I want Sushi Box to be something you can count on. (@krfoss yours is on the workbench right now, I'm on it!)

Brontosaurus taste like chicken?
Frankly I can't see why it wouldn't, all this talk about how birds are basically evolved from dinosaurs. So chronologically speaking, maybe chicken actually tastes like brontosaurus?

Sorry I've been quiet today, it was the first day of the Chicago Drum Show, so obviously I had to be there. I was SUPER CLOSE to picking up a vintage Slingerland kit, but I was able to talk myself out of it because it didn't have a matching snare.

Anyway. I need to take inventory and make sure, but I think the last of my component orders is in now so I can get started on circuit board assembly.

Also I started recording demos Friday night, I decided the best way to do it was put a bass lick on the looper (I did a simple blues riff then a slow walk up the pentatonic scale so you can hear it in a 'song' scenario as well as just longer held-out notes to get a better idea of what things sound like), do all the preamps on bass, then do a guitar lick on the looper and do all the preamps on guitar. I think I have everything so far besides PAX (I had a NOS tube in there and it went bad, need to throw a new tube in), Sunnday Drive (borrowed some parts to finish another prototype and haven't re-built), and Wrecking Ball X (set it down somewhere and literally can't find it).

In other news, Black Eye X sounds way better on bass than I expected it to. It's not going to be anyone's go-to preamp, but it provides an excellent warm dirt tone on bass. Also JC Emerald is brighter than I remembered it being, so if anyone wants it exclusively for bass I'm afraid I may have to do a special bass version of it. It still sounds good as-is, and maybe someone out there will think it's already perfect, but I personally like a really warm, mellow tone, and this has a lot of bite to it.

Deep dish in the classifieds. No affiliation.

Totally affiliated. Come and get it folks! :)

Wow, it's not even the one I was threatening to put on there. I can't commit. IT sounds sooo good. I must do an additional few days of shootouts before letting go of the DD. My gut right now is telling me that I'm going to end up keeping it. It already beat out the Cali 76, and the PDR. Why do I even bother.
