The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

LUPAX is a little obscure, I dig Underground Accelerator though. I'll give it some thought.

Oh and it turns out I'll have a PAX in fractured cherry for sale in the next couple days. Might be able to add a matte black DWX as well, we'll see.

I've got some engineer nerd chops that I like to apply to setups like this. Two is better than one!! You can do some extremely cool things by EQing a signal, then putting that result thru a second EQ...even if they're of the same ilk.

If you do a classic, say, treble cut and bass boost on the Linden, then the Slampegg has that signal, and you can do a treble boost, which changes the profile of the mids in a fun curvy way due to the circuit design, or you can cut treble more, which boosts part of the mids further, or even some bass cut (esp with a big bass boost on the Linden), which gives you this thumpy low mids that's almost below the mids frequency-wise. Great if you want a dual-pickup bass to come out sounding more like a P!

Plus the smaller Linden has some extra switches to change its EQ points. And the Slampegg's Ultra Lo will just redefine whatever's coming in.

#1 in life has been Linden into the Particle Accelerator because, yep: different behaviors is even more experiment-friendly, but I'm enjoying Linden into Slampegg enough that, really, I need two Lindens, one paired with each Sushi roll.
Thanks for explaining this, makes me sorry I sold the Linden. I never thought to try chaining them. I wonder if Mr. Sushi would build a Shampegg with two cascaded Baxandall tone stacks.

OMG!
I bet that's beautiful.

Indeed! Fractured Cherry is awesomest solid color he offers!

I like chaining a PAX into an SBVT. I always thought a single preamp with a Fender stack into a Bandaxall/James stack would be killer. I have two of my boards set up like that.

Also, another gig report! When you show up sober and on time as a bassist, you get work. Only reason I know of that they keep calling me.

Today I played at a winery where they had a pro speaker array installation job done, and our trio leader (guitar/vox, with guitar/harmonica/vox & bass/some grunts and wheezes) had a mini mixer. Love my Quilter BB800 but it didn't have 1/4" line out, nor me the necessary adapter cable... so I went direct from my lil board.

This time, I shaped tone more forcefully with the Linden with top cutoff, then used the Slampegg as if it were a head preamp + touch of emulation, boosting lows and cutting highs fairly aggressively.

Tellin' ya... I sounded pretty killer going direct into the house system! No clank, also no mud. Lively, but contained.

This sound I think I could have gotten with just the Slampegg via Ultra Lo, but I need to play with it more to get quick at using it knowledgeably.

Four hours and more bass solos than I've ever played publicly in my life later, they turned me up a couple times and a singer came up to recruit us for work.

Not bad for driving up to a tiny mountain town in north Georgia on July 4!

Know what's a really awesome particle accelerator that happens to be underground?

The Large Hadron Collider.

Just sayin'. There's fodder for that there cannon in there somewhere
That's true, I didn't get to use Large Hadron Collider because the tubes were absurdly microphonic and it didn't make it past prototype. I have always liked that name.

Excellent, as I said always enjoy reading your stories of gig successes. Also I think one of my buddies played Palatine fest as well, I thought I remembered him posting about it. I wanted to go, but getting my wife to agree to go to shows has gotten more and more difficult over the years.

@Sushi Box FX The Collider or some such could be a concise adaptation for a new fusion pedal!

& I have to say, were it not for a rather unusual boost in calls to play (distinctly profitable) gigs starting last December or so, I fear the panopticon may have permanently hermitized me. It's been really tough on some of my fellow introvert friends who aren't musicians etc! If she's of the introvert type, it'll take some coaxing and maybe a lot of time... and of course we don't get more hyper with age, so there's that.

On the other hand, I've dated women who love going out and it has nearly ruined me financially, sooooo homebody-ism has its pluses as well haha

@mmbongo since you like the Mini tubes better, there's a fractured cherry minitube Slampegg in the classifieds for a good price :D

/not-affiliated, just showed up in my feed

Good looking out! I'm good with my mini-tube Slampegg though, otherwise I'd jump on that one :)

Well, I jumped. Without trying very hard I now own 4 Sushi Boxes.
