Also,
Since Finally is essentially just a Space Heater with an XLR out, and you can get the same to e from the UA, I'd say the SH has now become, a bit redundant.

Unless you changed the voicing to differentiate it from those two, there's no reason to keep it in the line up.

Unless of course, it sells in enough numbers per month to justify it.

What you're saying is "cancel Space Heater, encourage everyone to get UA"? They're honestly REALLY close to the same circuit.

As much as I like the simplicity of the Space Heater, yes.

Maybe make a slight change to the UA.
A toggle switch that bypasses the EQ.

You could have it set for one voice with the EQ, then you could bypass it, and run it as a boost, without having to change your EQ settings.

Please don't. To make an all inclusive box would be bigger, more complicated and expensive and not really sound the same - it could be another product.
Each product has a specific purpose just as the Vampire Slayer and the Green House to fit different players needs and budget. I personally find more value in @Sushi Box FX simple, well executed, fantastic sounding specialty boxes instead of some chock full of nuts junk boxes so many call preamps these daze.

I hear you, but UA isn't that much bigger than SH, and is only $30 more. Adding a toggle to bypass the tone stack would 100% turn it into a Space Heater. That would be zero differences between the two. UA is just SH with the original PA tone stack. Period. Same circuit. Also Since the release of UA sales numbers have been steadily dropping for SH. I'm going to add it to my "evaluate" list, but SH may be going away.

Vampire Slayer is toast. It's a great buffer, but since its introduction to the lineup several months ago, I've sold maybe 3. Not worth the time it takes to keep it in the lineup.

Wrecking Ball may disappear as well. It's a killer circuit, but it's the same size and same price as Smoke Signal, but with less features, so I don't expect it to really compete long-term. Plus even before Smoke Signal was introduced I only sold 1 Wrecking Ball.

Also looking into getting rid of Sunnday Drive. There is one order for one in November, but prior to that it's been a few months since I've had an order for one. So while it's a great sounding preamp, I'll probably be letting it go.

With the Westinghouse fiasco I'm also thinking about letting go of King Nothing and Deep Dish as well. King Nothing is neat and has sold fairly well, but it's a very-slightly-tweaked clone. I've been rationalizing that since it's the v2 version and Kingsley only sells the v3 that I'm not taking sales from the creator, but that's a shallow justification. Deep Dish is a little different since I dropped a tube and added the gain reduction indicator, but at the end of the day it's the same story, I have a modified version of something that's competing with the original which is still in production.

I have a couple more in my "evaluate" list, but these are the ones at highest risk of being discontinued. Right now with Finally and Sashimi included I offer 17 models, and that is a lot. I've been thinking for a while that it would be nice to only offer things I feel really good about. Underground Accelerator is a prime example, it more or less started from the Particle Accelerator but evolved over time into a product I'm extremely proud of and that people like. I want more of that and less of "anything and everything under the sun that has a tube in it."

Anyway, Tuesday morning ramblings. I need breakfast.

As SB says - there are good reasons to pare down the line up particularly where there are some close clones involved or where a couple of SB pedals are basically equivalent to each other . Since many of us here feel like unacknowledged but not unappreciated board members of the SB team there is one pedal I'd like to see in particular . That would be an unspecified " SB flagship " model of some sort . I assume it would most likely be a high end preamp but I am not sure how much room there is in the market for that without stepping on some large toes . While it is definitely not a bass or guitar pedal - I'd love to see the Senor tackle a mic pre project . There's a lot of open ground in that category - for full voltage tube versions - even a single channel device if well done could prove to be a big winner . Just a thought anyways ... Kelly

A mic pre in a pedal package could be a big deal. If it had a line out so you could run your mic through some pedals, I'd buy one. The closest thing I can think of is an ART Tube MP, but it's not full voltage and isn't really compact.

Before this SB mic pre takes on too much of a life of it's own - Nathan hasn't chimed in and may have other fish to fry first . However if he was interested I would suggest checking out the schematics for older tube pre's as used by reel to reel tape decks . These are long out of production [ many are pretty highly regarded too ] and will not bring along any potential complaints about copy catting as might happen with some of the newer products that are still available today . ....Kelly

I'm around, I promise. I have a good friend that has been asking for me a year or so to do a tube mic preamp, and frankly since I've had rough luck getting into bands long-term I do a lot of home-recording, so I want tube mic preamps too. I have a couple ideas and things to look at (including the EHX 12AY7 pre, I found the schematic for that), but it's not at the top of my list right now. I will of course keep everyone posted.

So this made me look back through the mic preamp documentation that I had saved in the past (I'm a hoarder but for old schematics) and I remembered the main reason why it fizzled out:
  • lack of sourcing for high quality input and output transformers.
Looks like I have another thing to talk to @lightningboy about. Maybe mic pre is moving up the to-do list a place or two.

Now the Senor is just being a tease ! I have an 2 channel Ampex tape preamp from an old Ampex reel to reel stashed in my closet . I forgot how many tubes it has but's it's got several for sure . They were pretty well thought of as an entry level way to get a decent tube stage for your mics if you couldn't get into the real money gear . As I recall it was a little noisy but that was years ago when I last tried it and I don't have a Variac to use to fire it up properly now so it sits . But I could unearth it and do some gut shots . Pretty sure it's completely hand wired - point to point but not absolutely positive about that . It could also be a donor too as it has real iron but that wouldn't solve the current transformer production issue Nathan brought up . ... Kelly

good people,

my suggest for a possible mic pre idea for nathan is maybe he combines somehow his space heater w/a 1073 (or even 1081) - how wouldn't nathan have fun w/that classic neve trip?

Hey Gang,
Sorry I'm late to the party.

So after starting to go down this rabbit hole of Preamp pedals there has never been one that I can truly say "Yes, it has everything..." I have some detailed conversations the @Sushi Box FX and He agrees with the vision. It might take a while to get it all together and even getting us together to really nail this out, but I have not been this excited on a piece of gear to execute my musical goals since seeing my initials at the end of a headstock of a Mike Lull bass.

Right on. Tony is a good friend. I know he's been looking for the right preamp for quite some time now. That's wonderful for both of you.
I miss the hell of You my friend. When things are worked out, you will be one of the first to try it...I'm in Vegas next week but we still need to get a burrito before you end up going back to NYC.
