The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Awesome! So the X series is good to go, in theory? By the looks of the prototype in the previous pics its going to be rad, cant wait! (I saw my package leaving Jax, thats typically the stop before mine, crossing fingers! Thanks for the help
Yup, I verified that the PAX works and sounds great, I just changed the tube mount so I want to get some new ones in to make absolutely sure the new tube mount will work and fit in the box the way I want it to. This one will be a little less convenient to chnge tubes, but it will still be possible and it will be super secure. Plus there won't be any detachable parts that people might lose.

I'M SO TIRED BUT I'M SO CLOSE. See this is why I don't sleep enough :P Components are 100% placed, traces are 93% routed. It kills me but I think I have to go to bed and get the last 7% tomorrow.

So this isn't super exciting yet, but I got all the components placed on the Deep Dish Compressor (yup, that's the name I'm going with), just need to get them all connected now. I'm hoping to have layouts done for this and all the updated X Series pedals (PA and Slampegg are already done) by this weekend so I can get boards ordered and verify things so I can confirm they will be available in January.

Oh and those 20 pins next to "U5" in the middle near the bottom is going to be the LED bar for the gain reduction indicator and U5 is the driver for it. I'm not positive it will work as-is, but I made provision to disconnect it so it doesn't affect the circuit if it doesn't work on the prototype. But obviously I'm hoping it will work ;)

EDIT: looking at this picture I just realized I need to mvoe some components, they're going to get smashed by the tube mounts :p

You seem like a really busy guy. You get a lot done and things move quickly.

Is there a huge difference between the LU and Wattson? I have both on order, but I'll probably switch one to the Deep Dish.
There's a pretty big difference. LU is the AD200B preamp and is a single tube so low-mid gain, Wattson is the Hiwatt Dr103, two tubes, quite a bit more gain. They're both great but completely different beasts.

Obviously Deep Dish is in a category of its own.

I have a feeling this message was meant for me.. love the pedal, cant wait to try it out! Is the light inside the case? Shines through the slots?

The LED is mounted right behind the tube, the pins are in that picture there, the square and circle on the far right side. And while that message may not have been specifically for you, it was definitely for people like you ;) Speaking of which, let me know if you want to adjust the high voltage, I'll walk you through it.

Cool, yes I'll message you. Want to see how it goes "out of the box", have a nice little area at home waiting on it. So glad my high current port in 9vdc. Will the X be 12v?

Will I need more than 100ma?
Yes, I'll get exact numbers later, but I expect around 200mA. The tube heater will pull 150mA, and I like to assume 50mA or so for high voltage and LED.

Deep Dish still won't be too bad compared to some 6N21B builds, maybe 600mA or so. I need to hook up and measure the actual LA-1A, that would be interesting to see.

So I just had a surprise. LA-1A is pulling 1500mA during warm-up, 950-970mA after warm-up. Mine will pull less because I'm not using relays or a microcontroller, but I'm also adding a bunch of LEDs and a driver, so we'll see how much I end up pulling.
