Thanks. Sashimi is as hard to get as it is to wait for an order slot to open up.
I've got a new fuzz incoming right now, so I'm kinda on hold for buying more fuzz until I get that one settled and see what it's all about. The Doom 2 is still on my curiosity list though, and I like the sound of the Sashimi in the clips. It's a different sound from the standard offerings, that's for sure.
I'm deferring any new pedal purchases to 2022 at this point. lol

Played my first Sunday morning with the Smoke Signal (entirely unexpected I might add, 48 hours notice haha). Once I got my gain and compressor settings dialed in I was EXTREMELY pleased with how it sat in the mix. I stayed entirely on the drive channel, gain set to about 11 o'clock. The only change I made to the pedal was to put a new Mullard 12at7 in the "clean" position. Simple chain of P-Bass copy w/ Dimiarzio P Pickups->boss tuner>SS>Compressore>sansamp bypassed for DI. If you can tolerate some church music poorly played and want a sound clip of the Smoke Signal in mix -
From what I've heard the Sashimi can do, and can't, I would think the D2 is heavier, it's very versatile as well from muffed fuzz to almost a bright light drive (honestly the reason I ditched it, couldn't come to a conclusion of what I liked best..)

First of all, I gotta flex the Sushi Muscle. As of today, I can claim that I have so many Sushi pedals that I can fill up an entire pedalboard with them.
...well, yes. It IS a nano. But it's a legit pedalboard and it's full to the brim with nothing but Sushi.
I had the house to myself for a while, but I've had no chance in setting up my rig, so I only played though the house PA (which is a 12" powered monitor wedge) and through headphones.
This thing is capable and impressive.
The blue LED is way too loud, I'll have to dim that somehow.
The blue channel is, first impression, okay.
The first thing that comes to mind when testing out the red channel is 'nasty'.
However, it is surprisingly easy to tame. I started off with a searing chainsaw tone, but had it buffed down to a tone that I dig simply by backing off on the gain and highs a bit. Now it's touch sensitive and growls like an angry V8 engine.
Back to Blue: I said okay, which is some sort of weird praise already, because since I went through a heap of preamps earlier this year, I've raised my standards somewhat. However.
When I got the Particle Accelerator because bassbrad insisted so nicely in my preamp-thread, it was an epiphany to me. That was the sound I had in in my mind, but no amount of turning knobs on any pedal I laid hands on could get me there. Instant love affair.
When I 'upgraded' to the Underground Accelerator, it felt just like that - an upgrade of my favorite pedal: Everything I loved about the PA and then some - when I play lines high up the neck the UA adds harmonic breakup where the PA stays dry, but when I play deep notes, they ring rich and true, with not a hint of farting out. It is somehow richer, juicier, a bit rounded off around the edges - but not all of them, only the right ones.
Also, the pedal runs a 12AX7 which can be easily replaced and has top mounted jacks, so technical upgrades as well.
The Smoke Signal on the other hand is an entirely different beast. The EQ works differently. More conventional, I think.
Is everything at noon flat? It sounds like it.
The amount of knobs is the same - standard gain/master and three band EQ - but I feel that twiddling the knobs gets me somewhere close, then I'm nearly there, and suddenly I'm completely lost. Do the settings of the knobs interfere with each other?
My gut tells me there is a sound in there that was meant for me to discover.
About half an hour in, I plugged the UA in the spot and damn, I like that sound. I plugged back to the SS and
got somewhere different, but also quite nice.
So the current status is: I'm confused, but in a good way.
So this is going to sound crazy, but Smoke Signal has exactly the same EQ as Underground Accelerator. The differences in tone come from other aspects of the design. It should, in theory, be flat at the standard fender tone stack values of 2-10-2.
Voice in the back of my head: "Replace the clean channel in Smoke Signal with a straight UA."
@el murdoque I'm in n the same mind with you on the SS it is an amazing pedal, just perhaps not my favorite BBQ smoked meat. The red channel is the bomb but the blue is just not quite what I like, there is both something added and lacking that the PA does and the UA just has mo' better for what I want perhaps both of us.
@Sushi Box FX I like your hybrid idea of the UA for the /Blue and keeping the Red channel.
In Texas we do all sorts of BBQ Smoked meats from the classics of Brisket, beef and pork ribs, Sausage, Chicken, Ham but you can also find a lot of other more exotic choices like Buffalo, Venison. My Pop used to BBQ dove, venison and other game animals. In East Texas it can be almost any kind of road kill.

Yeah I like the blue channel as is, but it's nowhere near my favorite clean preamp. Obviously putting UA in for the clean channel would affect the dirty channel as well as the dirty channel uses both tubes, so I'll take a look at the design and see if it would make sense.
I've also considered making a separate individual preamp with just the dirty channel, but I really like having both options in one box so that idea isn't as tempting.
I'm learning to love the red channel as it's own pedal to kick on. I haven't run it parallel with my clean yet but I'm pretty sure I'm going to love it.
