The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Yeah I like the blue channel as is, but it's nowhere near my favorite clean preamp. Obviously putting UA in for the clean channel would affect the dirty channel as well as the dirty channel uses both tubes, so I'll take a look at the design and see if it would make sense.

I've also considered making a separate individual preamp with just the dirty channel, but I really like having both options in one box so that idea isn't as tempting.
I already own my Smoke Signal so I don’t really have a horse in this race, but I would argue to keep it as it is.
I LOVE the blue channel, clean or with the gain cranked. If someone prefers the UA for clean tones, maybe they could BUY THE UA. Why not offer a little diversity in your stable

I finally got my Fluffy Kitten!!

So this is going to sound crazy, but Smoke Signal has exactly the same EQ as Underground Accelerator. The differences in tone come from other aspects of the design. It should, in theory, be flat at the standard fender tone stack values of 2-10-2.

Nope, not crazy at all. I've just confirmed it. That makes perfect sense, too. On that tone stack, I don't like the highs at noon and I don't like them a bit past noon. I like them turned up very much, because turning them up pushes that hump in the EQ curve just to the sweet spot.
The whole thing responds totally different, though, which makes it feel totally different. More modern HiFi'ish and direct.

Voice in the back of my head: "Replace the clean channel in Smoke Signal with a straight UA."

First thought about that was "why?"
And then it hit me.
Correct me if I'm wrong - I've not been in the Sushi club for long and know nothing of the history - but the PA is a pretty straight F2-B clone while the London Underground is modeled on the Orange 200 bass head, right? The Underground Accelerator, is a symbiosis of both, which makes it a unique product. But why stop there.
Adding the red channel of the SS could be the next logical step. Or not. But certainly worth a try.

@el murdoque I'm in n the same mind with you on the SS it is an amazing pedal, just perhaps not my favorite BBQ smoked meat. The red channel is the bomb but the blue is just not quite what I like, there is both something added and lacking that the PA does and the UA just has mo' better for what I want perhaps both of us.
@Sushi Box FX I like your hybrid idea of the UA for the /Blue and keeping the Red channel.
In Texas we do all sorts of BBQ Smoked meats from the classics of Brisket, beef and pork ribs, Sausage, Chicken, Ham but you can also find a lot of other more exotic choices like Buffalo, Venison. My Pop used to BBQ dove, venison and other game animals. In East Texas it can be almost any kind of road kill.
See below for tasty examples....

On the screen the rocketship looked pretty cool, but now that I actually see it engraved I think it looks kind of tacky. Your thoughts? And don't worry this is just a test, it's not going on anyone's pedal.

Only way that will work is oversize the rocket, so big it runs off at least 3 sides but is still recognizable as a rocket.

Why not just make it literally look like a space heater..

Seems like the main complaint is that the rocket doesn't stand out enough - either due to it's size or the lack of a distinctive color difference between the rocket and the wood tone . So - I agree with the suggestions to either change the wood tone / use another finish instead of the wood one or enlarge the rocket graphic so it stands out better . The idea of an alternate graphic is also something to consider but what that would be is harder to imagine . Perhaps run it past the " Fluffy Kitten " dude and see if he has any ideas ..... Kelly

I think it looks fine, as is. Especially after it's assembled with knobs. Understated and functional, like the Space Heater itself.

Oooo!
Paint the enclosure in rainbows end, and use a darker wood.
I will be using a darker wood, this was just a general fit/look test and I didn't want to waste my real wood for that.

100% sprayed enclosure with this:

You know, because powder is so much fun :D
Well that stuff is attractive. I may have to pick some of that up on my next prismatic order.

Can you do that engraving on a rainbows end enclosure, then somehow paint the engraved part white?
In theory yes, unfortunately the "somehow" becomes doing it by hand with a fine brush, so the answer is essentially no.

You could do a simple solar system graphic, that would kinda match the Hand Wired Underground Accelerators atom logo.

I like that, I knew I wanted something space themed but didn't see any planet-ish graphics I liked either. I may try those out and see how they look engraved. The idea was to find a simple graphic like the atom logo on the handwired UA, and I think something like that could be cool.

Why not just make it literally look like a space heater..
I have a mock-up of artwork for the regular Space Heater that is based around an actual space heater, but I don't really like it. Ever since the name was established I've always wanted it to have more to do with space than to do with heaters.

I think I liked the idea of the rocket and maybe I just didn't like that particular rocket. I made this pedal about 3 years ago and I can't for the life of me find the graphic I used for it. It's not on any of my computers and I can't find it anywhere online. Love how this turned out though.

I like the other space ship more. It has a "Flash Gordon" kind of vibe.
