Does anyone here have an SVBT and a physical Line 6 Helix product? If so, could you try the SBVT right before said Helix product and let me know how it sounds/if you have any oddities?
Traded off my SBVT, and while I never tried that setup, they're having weirdness. Works fine everywhere else (in fx loop, after helix, etc), just not right before.

Hey everyone. With all this talk of Space Heaters can I ask exactly what this one imparts tonewise? Does it literally add a little tube warmth/bottom and and the addition of some harmonic break up? I do have the Slampegg that is all wrapped up now for Xmas, and I feel like this pedal had the tube warmth and break up, with a little character of it's own.

Is the Space Heater like this without that specific character of the preamp it's emulating?

And how furry can the overdrive get?

I'm not asking for a friend, I'm asking specifically for me for when I want to add some warmth and breakup to my bass tone without colouring it too much

To my ears,
I wouldn't say it necessarily adds "warmth",
But it does kind of de-sterilize a SS amp.

It tightens up the bottom, adds this midrange richness, and makes the highs fuller.

It can be completely clean, a touch of break-up, very hairy, and cranked amp distortion.

For such a simple pedal, it imparts so much flavor to your tone. Yet, without colouring it.

I can do that for you in January. I loaned(potentially selling)my Helix to my guitar player, but I have my HX Stomp on my board, so I can do that, but I won't have an SBVT until the Jan. run...

I think I liked the idea of the rocket and maybe I just didn't like that particular rocket. I made this pedal about 3 years ago and I can't for the life of me find the graphic I used for it. It's not on any of my computers and I can't find it anywhere online. Love how this turned out though.

I really like this rocket. The pods on the fins remind me of those 50s and 60s Sci-fi movies, and of course, Tintin.

I was wondering how the SH compares with the Finally for this same kind of thing.

I am so much looking forward to try my new Space Heater at a gig...once the lockdown ends. It's been sitting on a shelf for several weeks...

To my reckoning the SH goes from clean through warm thru to crunchy to mildly saturated while staying tonally transparent but adding a bit of squeeze as gain is increased. That gain characteristic is why the same circuit works so well in the Finally Tube DI.

Very few pedals offer that variable gain free of a tone circuit
the EHX HOT TUBES is one that offers a tone bypass

So I just got a used Dr Wattson X - I noticed it's warm when left plugged in but foot switch is off (LED's do shut off). Is this normal? I presume the tubes are getting power all the time if the unit is plugged in. I started unplugging it anytime it isn't in use. If this is normal operating procedure I should probably add a switch to my power supply...

With how long I've been ignoring it I currently have no idea what was planned for Gondwana anymore. Seems like a pretty useful feature though, I should probably throw one in.

"I don't remember if there is one specific place where I lay the whole thing out, but the goal is for it to be my "all-in-one box" featuring a tube preamp, IR loader, headphone amp, and DI output. It's an ambitious project for me so I've broken it into phases:

Phase I - Try out the IR loader with the manufacturer's development board
Phase II - Design a similar development board with an OLED screen and digital selection of IR patches
Phase III - Replace op-amp stages of IR loader development board with tube stages so all analog signal paths are tube
Phase IV - Add tube preamp in front of IR section, add headphone amp and DI at end, include dedicated unaffected out from preamp

I just ordered the Phase III circuit boards yesterday, and frankly if that works it will already be a pretty useful box, but my goal is to have Phase IV (probably) be the last phase and have it released late spring/early summer.

I was originally considering including a digital effects module in there, but I'm thinking about putting in an FX loop instead so you can use whatever effects you want instead of being stuck with whatever I come up with."

Excellent, thanks that all sounds about right, makes sense to me. The goal was always to have a nice everything-in-one box, be it for home practice, recording, or gigging.
