The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Don’t know about other folks, but I much prefer an H/LPF instead of IR. Have not liked any of the speaker emulations that I’ve tried.

I do like a number of the IRs Shift-Line offer for bass. I don't care for the Olympic's Fender tone stack.

LPF and especially HPF are valuable assets as well.

On a completely unrelated note, Ben Verellen is a super nice guy, I had a conversation with him this evening about Smoke Signal. If I could do it over again I wish I had the conversation before I started building them, but I'm glad we had this conversation.

Is there a "potential" collaboration in the works?
Too soon to tell as nothing was specifically discussed, but I would say we are at least on good terms, and he will be receiving a Smoke Signal in the next week or two to check out.

On a completely unrelated note, at the suggestion of dozens of people over the years, I finally started an instagram account. You can find me there too @sushiboxfx

I like the openly frank bio on it lol, but I got a feeling that a release of some photos of some of your past work with appropriate hashtags will have the follower count building quickly, esp since the photo shoot quality is all there.

A pretty decent pedal builder who does them under the name of Iron Ether (I'm understating in case anyone wonders) has a sick spread of photos of stuff on his IG, and man. It's a lesson that gear heads love them some nice pedal pics!

I hope he wasn't upset by you building the smoke signal. In fairness he hasn't been making any new preamps last I checked so it's not really justified to be upset imho. And especially not When he isn't offering any. Of his own and that its more of a inspired build then direct copy. That said all of the guys I've talked to so far have preferred the smoke signal over the Meatsmoke so you are definitely doing something right.

Having expressed my interest in the Smoke Signal before, and having nearly shed tears at the quality of tone presented by a certain ultra-fine and ultra-inaccessible-to-a-humble-working-man preamp pedal, I am most curious and cautiously entertaining fantasies where this is concerned.

So I still like the rocket, but I think I like the solar system a little more. Also this is closer to what the actual wood color I'm going to use looks like.

Thoughts?

+1 for the solar system for a pragmatic reason: the people at the Hergé Foundation (Moulinsart) are very sensitive regarding intellectual property. Your rocket may look too much like the one that landed on the moon. FYI A friend of mine had first-hand experience with their lawyers just because his (mostly local) band's name included a pun with the name Affaire Tournesol.
