So I still like the rocket, but I think I like the solar system a little more. Also this is closer to what the actual wood color I'm going to use looks like.
Thoughts?

Is it just me or does the sun look off center?

Can confirm Ben is a super nice guy. I had lots of back and forth with him when I ordered my amp from him, and then I actually got to meet him at one of his bands shows in Seattle. Glad you guys worked it out.On a completely unrelated note, Ben Verellen is a super nice guy, I had a conversation with him this evening about Smoke Signal. If I could do it over again I wish I had the conversation before I started building them, but I'm glad we had this conversation.

I hope he wasn't upset by you building the smoke signal. In fairness he hasn't been making any new preamps last I checked so it's not really justified to be upset imho. And especially not When he isn't offering any. Of his own and that its more of a inspired build then direct copy. That said all of the guys I've talked to so far have preferred the smoke signal over the Meatsmoke so you are definitely doing something right.
Like, the sun is literally a space heater.
He wasn't upset, I think he was mostly just surprised as yesterday was his first time hearing about Smoke Signal, and he wanted an explanation. He was very understanding, though he understandably would have preferred that I talked to him about it from the beginning rather than him finding out about it third-hand, which I apologized for. I've always felt like I'm a relative nobody in the gear world and therefore assumed a reputable builder wouldn't bother to respond to me, and I need to realize that a) that is getting less and less true and b) that's still no excuse not to be transparent about things.
I think I'm going to go with the solar system for handwired Space Heater, and I will bring the size in a little so it isn't hanging off the edge. It's simple, it doesn't cross lines of intellectual property (thanks @gonzkal, good note) as it's a licensable file, and it keeps with the space theme that I wanted.
Well my real resolution is to just stop building things that are copies of or based on things that are already out there and focus on original designs. Fortunately demand for the designs that I want to stop building (King Nothing, Vampire Slayer, Deep Dish) has been steadily decreasing anyway, so I just need to get in and make it official. You can make a New Year's resolution to reach out to any remaining builders that might be (justifiably?) liable to get pee-ed off if they get 3rd hand news![]()
The stuff you design yourself from scratch is great, bring it on! Great move IMO.Well my real resolution is to just stop building things that are copies of or based on things that are already out there and focus on original designs.
I actually looked at that, but the ones I found the coolest were similar enough to draw comparisons to Analogman's Sunface, so I'm probably going to stick with the solar system. Especially since I already paid for "unlimited usage rights in perpetuity" for that imageJust throwing this out there but NKBassman has a good point about the sun being the essential space heater . What about a graphic of the sun itself on it's own . There are tons of good versions going as far back as the Aztecs etc . Plus it'd be simple to size appropriately and could look very cool etched into the wood veneer .... Kelly
While I agree that this is the way to go for the future, please give me a warning before you cancel the Black Eye. lolWell my real resolution is to just stop building things that are copies of or based on things that are already out there and focus on original designs. I would be incredibly sad if I had to stop making Black Eye, but I've already reached out to Soldano to make sure that they're aware and that I'm not ruffling any feathers. I will of course keep everyone posted on any decisions made. While I agree that this is the way to go for the future, please give me a warning before you cancel the Black Eye. lol

I never managed to get a particle accelerator in the particle accelerator, I don't think I could squeeze a space heater in the space heater.
Is that an RTG?
In the realm of pedal design, is “original” even possible anymore?Well my real resolution is to just stop building things that are copies of or based on things that are already out there and focus on original designs.
