Paid, glad to get my first Sushi at last.
For those of you who use a Sushi box tube preamp and a HX Stomp, how do you use them? SB first, last, in the loop?
I will experiment of course, but i'd like to know…
Described above several posts back but my question was lost in the lottery flurry ;-) I am wondering about using a boost after my mini tube Slampegg. It is lower output than the 12ax based Partical Axcelerator (PAx). Currently I'm using a solid state boost.
Wondering if the Space Heater belongs in that spot... or it the Space Heater maybe even replaces the Slampegg mini or if I dump the SH and do a Slampegg X...
For live use, I always cable at least 2 basses. In one band there is a 400 song song book... BL calls tunes he feels fit the mood of the room... I change basses fairly often and it needs to happen like right now. Generally I cable a 4 and a 5. To gain blance as well as getting my initial tone, I use the Slampegg & boost for one, and the PAx for the other. Those go to a Radial Big Shot i/o for switching. Output to a dedicated comp and then to the Stomp. There is a Future Impact in the loop of the Stomp.
I use an external 2 button switch for Stomp snapshot up/down and control the Stomp patch and FI path with an MC-6.
I also use the 3Sigma German bass IR's for fretless for piezo 'juice'. I have a few piezo and fretless options that I call on for folk rock settings. One of my bands can do a 3 hour folk rock set and we mix it up a lot so UBass, Barker Brio/Graphtech Ghost, ABG Fretted or Fretless - something is coming along for the ride on those dates. I have 2 of those coming up near term (OR and WA Governor's willing...) probably fretless ABG and a dual Dark Star Lecompte that I don't seem to be able to put down...
For me the Stomp is basically a smaller version of the EFX. The only 'amp' model I use is the mic pre and I use that only when going with a 'nano' setup of switcher, Comp or PAx and Stomp. The studio comp in the Stomp is OK but the Empress is better. The amp models don't stand up for me. What I love in the Stomp are the mild grinds (Retro Reel at the moment), the sub Octaves (using crossover split path and sub Octve on the mids/highs, a little warm dirt on the lows) and modulation - 70's chorus or Grey Flange...
I'm reading Craig Anderton's new e-book on the Helix family. very informative. about to start the chapter on bass. Maybe he'll sway my thinking.
