He's referring to the compressor sidechain in the Deep Dish. I think you're talking about wanting Finallys for your stage use?

Ah, right if the compressor is in between you may overdrive your compressor instead of the UA. Not sure how that would go, you may want the compressor up front and the SH in the middle.
Yup, the sidechain is the part that taps off the main audio signal and tells it how much to compress. In an optical compressor like Deep Dish it controls how bright to drive the optical component that reduces the gain in the signal.
Also just realized I should probably get in and edit the Fluffy Kitten description. Not that it's stopped anyone from ordering it, there are around 30 Fluffy Kittens out in the wild now, which the guy who did the art is thrilled about.
No. The Comp and the UA stay exactly the way they are. If you were to hear the sound I get from that combination you'd fall to your knees and cry tears of joy. Between sobs, your chest would swell with pride, knowing that you played an essential role in creating that sound by providing the pedal that is the pillar for all the rest to rest on. This is not open for debate. This is set in concrete. Encased in Osmium.
Things could be easy for me, I could simply order another UA. But no. Because Mr. Fancypants has just announced that there will be a hand hammered version of the UA for the April orders.
That is like half a millenium away from now so I could order something else, but It is close enough that I'd feel stupid ordering a normal SMD UA now and the home knitted version in April.

@el murdoque This is where guitarists start down the rabbit hole... this particular hole is to have multiple gain stages in loops on their board... At one point I uddestand David Gilmour had 5 Source Audio EQ 1's paired with different distortion units in his rig...
my Sushibox rig started as an OG Slampegg, followed by a clean boost, in parallel with a PA X. The clean boost was to bring up the Gain on the Slampegg so there wasn't a volume loss. In my case, I dedicated each side to a bass so 1 bass 1 preamp. Selected via a Radial Switcher. It could just as easily be 1 bass and A/B/Y with a different switcher..
I have this crazy need for either a 4 or a 5 or fretted and fretless 4's depending on the gig. Band leaders just call tunes and quickly launch, no set lists and very little talking between tunes... just to keep me on my toes.

@NKBassman can I get that around 8 lbs to go with my questionable back, blown out shoulders and bum knee ? The shoulders and knee are the results of a hard charging ski life ... the back is due to my allergic reaction to sit-ups ;-) Had I known what 67 was going to be like I might have made other decisions earlier on...
Every time I see a pic of Rick Nielsen (Cheap Trick) and his 5 neck Hamer my back and shoulders get this uncontrollable shiver...

Of all the pics I could have randomly found on Google, I actually bet that Status would probably be the lightest double neck bass you could hope for.
Undergoing ethical evaluation. I'm trying to phase out pedals that are clones of or based on existing pedals that are currently on the market, and Deep Dish is basically the Effectrode LA-1A minus one tube and adding a gain reduction indicator. One could argue that the circuit is different enough that I'm not stealing customers from Effectrode, but my gut is telling me that it would be better to just design my own compressor and leave any trace of Effectrode's design out of it. So probably going to stay archived and fade away to be replaced by an original design.
Sounds like someone ought to do a shootout video. Does anyone else own both, or is it just me?
UA ordered! pretty psyched, hope it has a different flavor then the B15/SVT/F1X preamps I have (Broughton Fliptop, ME 300, alembic f1x). My first foray into Sushibox, can't wait!
EQ will probably be pretty similar to the Alembic F1X, and very different from the FlipTop and ME 300, but Gain structure will be pretty different from the typical Alembic. More breakup available than you typically see on the Alembic/Fender Tone stacks alone.
